I was thinking about going as I was in Melbourne that week. But it's sounding a bit hard to be honest

Has anyone got a list of who and what is on at the show yet?

I have been sent a few emails to buy tickets with the attached blurb saying an exhibitor list will be available closer to the show date. Seeing it is next week, how close to the date do they need.

Seaworks is the old MHT then Port of Melbourne Authority workshops and slipway and seems a fairly small venue for the show. As mentioned, parking is not available on site so pay parking or a long walk are the options.

Still tossing up whether it is worth going.

At the moment their website says:

    Exhibitor List and Floor Plan

The Melbourne Timber & Working With Wood Show details will be posted closer to the Show.

Your guess is as good as mine, and mine is about an hour after the show opens if we're lucky.

    Frustrating.....
Whilst I understand it may have started to drop in attendance and interest, I still use it as an excuse to splurge a bit and have fun.....

Maybe I'd be better off making a trip to my favourite mill and load the ute there instead of at the show (not looking forward to city parking)

I have just opened an email from them and when you go to the bottom there is a tab "New website". I clicked on that and it gives a list of exhibitors although I suspect that some of those are from earlier shows. If you click on any of the exhibitors names they turn over to reveal what they are about except for a couple whose web-site is obviously out of date.
I was at the Model Railway Show at Caulfield today and was talking to Stan of Sonic Tools - he will be there and his website works as above. Many years ago he had a wood-working showroom in Plenty Rd, Preston.

I don’t think I’ll be going this year. The thought of driving there from a Frankston with my trailer and not finding a park nearby (like at Caulfield, or previously at Showgrounds) and then turning around back home empty handed puts me off going.......

I agree and I have decided that I am not going either. I had saved a few dollars to spend at the show but spent it today on some other items instead.

In this context, what is matchmaking? My mind wanders to dating sites or making matches to start a fire...surely it is neither, but since I have no idea I'll ask the question.

Well presumably matches(the kind little boys like playing with)are still made of wood.
And being a wood work show I imagine we will learn how to make matches.
Which I imagine will be a lot easier than making chop sticks because there a lot smaller.

There's a couple of exhibitors names that I do not recognize and google is not helping with them.

most conspicuous are ALAN STEVENS and BRENDA HOSKIN. Anyone ever heard of them?

BEYOND TOOLS could be worth checking out - particularly in the absence of Carbatec and Timbecon

I think I will go and see if I can find a park on the Friday and see how it is.
I got sick of sitting around doing nothing - so I took up meditation.

Henry Eckert Tools from Adelaide will be there but they are not even listed. I have spent my show money on the recently released Henry Eckert low angle jack plane. Fantastic. If you are going to the show and want quality tools check out their new plane. Australian made which is now rare and I am sure if he gets some solid support that maybe more Aussie made offerings will follow.

Ok, I thought this "DAVID ERKHART " was a bad typo for them.

Most likely but a typo does not help his cause especially with the costs involved for him to come all the way to show his stuff. Here is a link to the plane I bought.

I got a redgum model. Number 9 of the first 40.
