I thought there was parking at the venue?

Good to know. I will be wandering down tomorrow. So glad it is at home :).
I get all my BS blades from McDiven on Kororoit Ck Rd but maybe there is something special about your resaw blade.
My little wish list is growing so don't know how much i'll be able to get :U
Don't forget some photos please gents, thank you....:U
Well I ended up going and dragging an old Dockyards Joiner mate along with me. Dropped him at the door to get the tickets and parked way up the street near the station as all parks close by were 2 hours. After entering I found parking was available out the back on the pier. Not happy. Show was small but I managed to spend more than I should have on a large bundle of chevron inlay veneer, a Veritas shooting board track, two Howard adjusters for my block planes and a 90 degree blade for my low angle Jack plane. Not much change out of 400. The saddest thing for me was seeing the Port of Melb workshops gutted and turned into a small show venue. Did my apprenticeship as a Joiner next door at HMA Naval dockyards and also worked at Port of Melbourne Authority as a joiner after that. Both all gone now and all the skills of many trades gone too......

Col, I joined my first ship out of my Naval Apprenticeship at HMAS Nirimba, HMAS Yarra in late 1974 at Williamtown Dockyard under major refit. We were bilited at Marabonong and bused daily to the dockyard for some 6 months. Good memories; but as Garden Island and Cockatoo Dockyard all gutted and gone.
Cheers crowie
Just got home and certainly glad I went. There was plenty of room and very light inside with lots of small traders. I parked in a street just near the venue with 2 hour parking and just went out and moved twice while there and only had to walk less than 100m each time. Food was very affordable whether it be from the Apex van or the in house cafe. Heaps of people there until early afternoon.
Met Candice and she is very enthusiastic and has great plans for the future shows and will make sure they don't clash with other woodworking events.
I brought a Gifkins Dovetail jig which I had intended to and some bits of Tasmanian timber.
Looking forward to next year already.
I arrived at 9:45 and there was no available parking anywhere near the venue except for 30 minutes or less.
Fortunately I had made contact with the Manager of Seaworks a couple of days ago and made arrangements that I could phone her if I was unable to find any suitable disability parking and she would let me in around the back of the venue. I parked just behind the Rotary BBQ . Without that help I probably would have had no alternative but to turn around and go home.
A couple of cars tried to follow me in but were turned back by security. Someone mentioned parking at the venue on the pier - I came in through the entrance to the entrance to the Pier and as ai mentioned those without prior arrangements were turned back :o
Seaworks manager decided to escort me to the front door to make sure I paid, which took a lot longer than she thought as several people stopped me for a chat along the way. She could not believe I knew so many people. :?
There was plenty of timber and plenty of tools and plenty of friends to catch up with. I didn't buy much as I am still shaking down what I have into my new shed.
It was very busy in the morning but after lunch it was quiet. A lot of people went out to shift their cars due to time restrictions on parking and some did not make it back inside.
All in all I am optimistic about the future of the show in Melbourne. I have heard that there will be an announcement prior to next year's show that will make a lot of people happy. It's amazing what you can find out when you ask the right people the right questions. :D
Well we just got home, I thought it was good show Sally and I had a great day.
Unfortunately my VAN not so good on leaving the venue it told me via the dash the transmission is sick.
It’s now at the mechanics [emoji849].
Cheers Matt.
That was me that mentioned parking out the back. My mate has the disabled parking permit and cannot walk far and I was talking to someone there and was told I could have parked out the back on the pier because of his condition. But it was too late by then because I had dropped him off and walked. Never mind, the walking did me good.

I didn't do any work on the Yarra. I did on the Stuart, Parramatta and maybe the Swan. Also the Cook but that was a bit of a lemon. That would have been Maribrynong where you stayed. Lots of Dept of Defence places were over there. I did a stint at DSTO in Maribrynong before going into teaching. Those too are all gone now. Too bad if we ever have another conflict. I suppose we can get all we need from China especially if they are the ones we are in conflict with.
Did anyone notice a parcel pickup area that you can drive up to and load up?
Cheers, and did you leave me anything to load up? I'm mainly after MDF and maybe a nice piece of Melamine if any tickle my fancy :D
There’s some very nice timber in the back of my van.
Sitting in my mechanics workshop now in Ringwood [emoji849].
Plus my work boots.
Cheers Matt,
It seems that most of us who went yesterday were more intent on seeing what was at the show than taking photos. Hopefully some of those who go over the weekend will post some otherwise it will look like it didn't happen.
