Melbourne Timber Show - just around the corner
Hi Everyone, well the Melbourne Timber Show is here again where has this year gone. Melbourne Timber is the second last show for our company - its funny when we say to people we are at the end of our year they often think that we then sit back and have a wonderful break.............I wish!! As soon as the shows are over we are on to planning the next year's events, trying always to come up with something different to keep the shows fresh and alive. And talking about something new we have something new for Melbourne this year!! Come Try and Learn was launched this year at our first show for the year Brisbane, it was good, but we have got better and better as the year has progressed and we are bringing a great program to Melbourne. The idea was born after speaking to both exhibitors and visitors that it would be great if the shows could become more interactive. So now on the show floor you dont only get to hear and see the presentations and demonstrations you can also have a go. Check our website www.iexh.com.au for the full program. So where else could you go for a small entry fee and have a full days fun, shopping, listening and now 'having a go'. Some visitors enjoy their day so much they come back for another day/days - we have multi day tickets available from the show office for $5.00 for return days.
I am really pleased to tell you that we have worked with the Melbourne Showground staff and they have promised they will have the parking sorted out for this show!! We have even been able to keep the parking cost to $5.00 (parked in Sydney the other day and was charged $9.80 for half an hour). Coaches will be able to unload their passengers on the forecourt outside of the hall, therefore negating the walk you had to make last year!! We will have 2 shuttle buses running transporting visitors from the car park to the venue. There is also more disabled parking which will also be on the forecourt outside of the exhibition hall. We have also been promised more visbale parking signage and friendlier parking staff. Fingers Crossed it will work this year and they can deliver!!
We also have a large feature section at the back of the venue which is going to be full of marimbas and people will be both playing them and building them. I am not sure how many they are bringing but have just heard from a school in Geelong that they are arriving with 30 students already to make and play these. If you haven't heard the sound these instruments make you are in for a treat.
The forum lounge is again on the floor, make sure you enjoy.
Whats the weather like in Melbourne as I sit here in my office typing this the temp has just hit 32degrees.
Until next time Liz

Robbygard
hope you tickets have arrived - i have looked at my records and think i have charged the correct amount but as i don't have you full details on this post may be looking at the wrong request. Maybe you can send me a private post and i can check it out.....it more for me to see if i have done it incorrectly...........and if so no further payment required by you............my mistake!!
Great news we have just heard that VEK Tools are now coming to the Melbourne Show!! I believe this is their first time in Melbourne, and they will have the best display of power tools etc. VEK exhibit with us in both Sydney and Canberra and ALWAYS have an outstanding display.
I have just checked and the floor plan is up. Go to the Melbourne Show and the 'at the show' tab and you will find it there.

That makes two new additions this year (at least) that I think Melbourne Show goers will enjoy. I was in Canberra earlier this year and liked the VEK Tools stand so much that I flew some of it home to Melbourne with me .
The other stand I am sure people will enjoy is the Japanese Tools stand - a must see for the Orient oriented (so to speak).

Where is the disabled parking this year?
Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I´m not so sure about the universe.

From the front page of the Melbourne show, followed from the link provided by Liz:
Parking & Shuttle Bus Service Update
We have worked closely with the Melbourne Showground staff and they ensure us they have got the parking right for this years show. Visitors will enter through Gate 7 - we will have 2 shuttle buses running from the parking areas to the venue. Shuttles will drop you along side the venue. The Showgrounds have also promised us better signage for this year. The Showgrounds are also putting on more staff to man the gates, and along with that friendlier customer focused staff to greet you. If you require disabled parking (you will require the disabled sticker) you can enter through Gate 2. Disabled parking is outside the venue.

Friendlier customer focused? I don't believe that is possible , thanks for the disabled access info (I have the sticker) you have no idea how important it is to know these things in advance, in past years the staff have been less than helpful directing me to disabled parking, anyone would thing disabled people were trying to pull a shifty, it as bloody hard and trying pushing a wheelchair around the parking lot.

Thanks for the support guys, we managed to get Metabo, Einhell, bahco & dewalt to make the trip & support the industry. Just on a plane on the way back from metabo conference & was pleased to see so much new product coming thru for the wood workers, a lot of it still made in Germany. We will also be showcasing the new Einhell guide system which we sold out of at Canberra

Demonstration Times?
Going to the show on Sat and have been looking everywhere for a time table of the demonstrations so I can plan where I want to be and what time. Anyone know where I can find this? I went to the organisers website, clicked 'demonstrations' but not much help.

There is a PDF link on the Demonstrations page titled Timetable Available Here Now.
I've copied and pasted the link here for you http://www.iexh.com.au/images/pdf/ct...urne081012.pdfCheers

Thanks DJ's. worked it out, didn't realise at first that it was a timetable for the whole show, I just thought it was a new 'Come Try Learn' thing but it's all the demonstrations.
Now my problem is the two shows I want to see (Neil's and Stan's) start at the same time 10.30am. Hmmmmmm?........ which to choose? Oh its too hard!
Maybe I'll see Stan's then run down for the end of Neil's then ask all the stupid questions people asked at the start and he's probably got sick of answering by then.
Pretty excited this year....extra pumped for some reason even though I usually go every year. I remember going when I was about 14. 37 now so they must have been going for quite a few years. I'm hoping to get a nice upgrade fence for my old table saw (Biesemeyer). Might ring Carbatec and see if they will have one there, if not maybe they could bring one along for me. Unless someone knows another company selling fence upgrades at the show?
