Well I had a fairly quiet time at the show. I bought:
a Lie Neilsen adjustable mouth block plane,
a live centre that I need for a current project,
some items which for reasons of avoiding contraversy,I will refer to as"Hollow Metal Cylinder Clamps", and
some rasps that I hope will come in useful for the https://www.woodworkforums.com/f11/me...rkshop-174387/ being organised for forum members next month (apparently there are still a couple of places available)
I also bought sandpaper, router bits, some locks and hinges, necessary stuff but not worthy of a photo.I got sick of sitting around doing nothing - so I took up meditation.

There were lots of stalls that had rasps. I just wanted a few cheap ones for the backsaw workshop and if I found a need for better ones I would get some later.
I got the ones pictured from the large hardware stall just inside the front door to the right. They were a massive $4 each, Lie Neilsen had some very high quality ones at a good price for what they are but fo rthe use I will have for them I cant justify that. McJings had some cheaper ones too.
I hope this helps.
Cheers

Doug,Doug,
{for reasons of avoiding contraversy,I will refer to as"Hollow Metal Cylinder Clamps",}
If they weren't hollow they wouldn't be cylinders.

Sorry mate but a cylinder describes a solid object. Thats why I described it as a hollow cylinder
From Wikepedia: "A cylinder (from Greek κύλινδρος – kulindros, "roller, tumbler"[1]) is one of the most basic curvilinear geometric shapes, the surfaceformed by the points at a fixed distance from a given line segment, the axis of the cylinder. The solid enclosed by this surface and by two planes perpendicular to the axis is also called a cylinder. The surface area and the volume of a cylinder have been known since deep antiquity."I got sick of sitting around doing nothing - so I took up meditation.

Hmm
Maybe I've been sniffing too much petrol for too long.

Hey Doug did you buy the riffler rasps from the chinese tool stall up the front near the entry???
He also had saw files!……I was looking at them he had two different makes of what would be a 5" DEST, made in china, no name. When I asked about their manufacturer he said made in china same factory as a more expensive big name brand. I also saw Gorbert USA file (made in china stamped on the box).…..Live a Quiet Life & Work with your Hands

Hi Dale,
Yes he had sawfiles. I also checked the origin, and remembering what has been said in the backsaw workshop thread, left them there as I believed we were getting the good gear on the course.
I dont mind using cheap chinese on the handle. It might just mean it takes a bit longer or I might have to sneak up on the final finish another way, but I dont want to take my chances on shaping or sharpening the saw teeth with anything below standard.
Cheers

I left them for the same reason
The riflers are good especially when doing lambs tongues on the closed handles.
So many nice things to look at, some I just wasn't sure if it was a good deal or not. I didn't see to many clearly displayed show specials. Only thing I bought was a small pack of brass hinges that being cleared out less than half price. I did drool on a lot of things though.…..Live a Quiet Life & Work with your Hands
