MELBOURNE T&WWW Show 2016 FORUM STAND - HELP
Help wanted for Forum Stand at:
MELBOURNE Timber & Working With Wood Show
September 9th, 10th, 11th 2016
We have been asked to have a Forums Stand again at this years Melbourne Show. Almost six week to go. Brisbane was able to get their stand sorted and fully manned in 2 weeks so with a little luck Melbourne should be able to get it all happening in the time that is left.
We need people who will be able to give some of their time to man the stand on any or all of the following days Friday, Saturday and Sunday also set up the stand on Thursday and help pack up Sunday evening. (Pauline and I will be there for setup on the Thursday and for pack up on the Sunday but not for the show itself as we are committed to Down Under Turn Around that same weekend)
Anyone who volunteers to help out will get free entry for the day(s) they are rostered on to help.
With a lead time of nearly 6 weeks I'm hoping to be able to get a good roll up. It has been suggested that members bring along some of their work for show and tell or display and to talk about. This can be for the entire length of the show or just for the time or day you are rostered on. This is an idea to create a bit more interest on the stand and for the forums. Worked well in Brisbane and Sydney where members not only brought along pieces of their work but also photos of their work to put up on the walls
If you would like to help out please respond in this thread with name preferred time and day(s).
We also need someone who'sdumb enoughbrave enough to volunteer to organize roster and take charge of the running of the stand.
Cheers - Neil

I am happy to help but cannot give a day at the moment due to other potential commitments around that time. When they are sorted I will get back on here.

I'm happy to help out again.
And will and can be available any time over the three days.
As Neil says ,we need something a bit more interesting.
Last year felt like a polling booth ,I'm sorry if that's a bit hard to swallow.
And we all know how much fun they can be.
I'm happy to sit and make some saw handles if we can get a ruff bench together some how.
So it feels a bit more like a wood club show .
Not something i previously mentioned.
So come on let's make it a better show .Melbourne's and beat those norther guys.
Cheers Matt

This is a good opportunity to meet and chat with people. All you need to do is hand out a flyer and chat about what you already know about the forum.

So should I start my Dictator roll?
But please ,if any body else would rather be the director ,please stand up or remain sitting if that's easier.
I really won't mind ,but also ,happy to proceed if that's what is wanted.
And am now formerly getting pointers from a little mate with a bad hair day ,who wants to remain anonymous from North Korea said he leant it from his old man.

Ok I will start off compiling the roster for the three days on Monday. I am going away on Friday for the weekend so I am a bit busy in the lead-up to that, and of course we have a fair bit of lead time anyway.
So lets get it off for a good start. If you want a spot on the roster with free entry, post your preferences in the thread and your name will be on the first draft which will be uploaded on Monday or Tuesday next week. Preferences will be in chronological order of posting.
If all is going well I will update the draft roster once a week until we get closer to the show and then more often if we still need more volunteers.
Cheers

No problem Matt. Good on you for running the stand for two days. Hopefully someone will step up to look after it on Sunday
Hopefully we will have a full roster on both days so the coordinator for the day doesn't have to have a shift, but can just fill in when it is busy.
Cheers
