    Default Perth TWW show

    http://www.google.com.au/url?sa=t&rc...Zz7Kgb11r3kUeg

Perth TWW show is on next week Friday to Sunday 3-5 August at Claremont Showgrounds.

Theres a huge pavillion for the Woodworkers and theres another pavillion for those interested in the Craft Show doing things like quilting etc .

Something for everyone to spend a day out at.

I have no affiliation ...thought to bring this to folks attention as I have seen no mention of it here.

    Cheers

I like to walk around the furniture displays laid on by the various entrants to see what it is that stirring the creative urges these days.

A lot of the schools have their students putting in some excellent practical designs which is often thought provoking by the fresh and sometimes daring approach to design.

One aspect of the wood show worth going for.

Unfortunately my time will be limited at Claremont this year as we have to attend to other matters whilst in Perth but have prioritised the WW show as a first up choice naturally.

Hope to still get around and say G'day to folk on some of the stands, woodturners etc.

    Cheers

Keep an eye out for the Fine Woodworking Association stands. They hold exhibitions and run a competition of members furniture. There are usually several really outstanding pieces on show.

They will also have a display of some of the tools I have built in recent years (a bunch were collected last night).

I will be around on the Saturday and Sunday. Come over and say hi.

I went to the WW show on Friday But had limited time there as we had other commitments to attend to whilst in Perth ,which we do not often get into.

I mistakenly believed that the WW show and the craft show were to be held in two separate pavillions ,however much to my dismay they were both held in the one pavillion ,with the WW part at one end and the craft at the other end.

When I arrived there early as is my wont and with the day planned to meet my wife in the city, there was a queue that took for ever to get into the show.I must have been in the line for 30-40 minutes which took away some the time I had left to spend there. I was'nt impressed as in previous years when the show was held it was the WW show in the whole pavillion and did not take long to get in. By the time I got out of course everything had quietened down as is usual.

The pavillion from my point appeared unusually crowded which may have been due to both shows in the same pavillion. Previous years there was space a plently even on the first day. If they continue with this format I may even consider if its worth going early perhaps later on in the day when it is quieter.I intend to email the True Blue people to see if this is what is planned in the future.

When I got in I went straight to the Old tools stand whereby there are some on display as well as some for sale.Always a good opportunity to have a look at what was on offer ,this was going well with a lot of folk scanning the tables for that bargain.Spent some time there chatting to the blokes on the closed displays about some of my tools I have, always a good time spent there.

All the usual tool merchants were there in attendance Makita,Bosche,Hitachi,Milwaukee, just to name a few, also spent some time chatting to David & Phil on the Lie Nielsen stand bought a set of scrapers off them my only purchase of the show apart from a bottle of water.Did want to buy a rotating stand for my Tormek T7 ,guy grabbed the last one just before me.

There was the usual high standard of furniture, entries from the various schools as well as the Fine Woodworkers school ,reckon the judges would have had their work cutout.
The WA woodturners were well in attendance one item they had was a huge laminated turned ball about a metre diameter I did'nt take any pictures to show here as this would have been a real beaut to show.

All in all the show was'nt too bad apart from the compressed space by the organisers of the show trying to get everything in.

    Cheers
