I had a lot of fun today. I met a lot of people and had lunch with a few regulars. I bought some sandpaper and nothing else. They asked me to go to the presentation tomorrow but didn’t tell me what I’ve won. Well I will find out tomorrow.
It was a great day.Visit my website at www.myFineWoodWork.com

Laksa away
I made it home but the poor little car was a bit weighed down.
Good to catch up with lots of regulars on the stands.
Nice lunch Scott, I don't really like laksa anyway. Good to meet you all.
I vote for the hall table.Scally

I'm just sorting out the loot from yesterday.
The new fingerjointing comb from Gifkins, plenty of colourcoded abrasives, Fine Woodworking's book on furniture design and a few of Brad's coolibah burls to turn for overseas gifts.
Most of the BIG stands from previous years were smaller - Trend, Timbecon etc. Lots of Triton and GMC stuff. Most of the competition and display pieces were very good, specially Wongo's horse and the school HSC stuff.
Really missed ya, Neil & Pauline. I hope you're getting fitter.
Cheers
Graeme

It was great to catch up with some of the guys yesterday - even though I was a little pressed for time. I'm going back tomorrow (Sunday) to have a more leisurely stroll around the place. Wongo assures me that there will be heaps of specials on the last day!
Thanks for picking up my cap Fletty - nobody will recognise me tomorrow without it. I enjoyed our lunch - it was certainly better than the usual cold pie consumed while sitting on a Bycol drum at the job site.
Sorry that I missed you Wheelin - hopefully I'll catch up with you & the missus tomorrow.
Good luck with the rocking horse too Wongo. I think yours is the better piece by far. Some of the others are OK, but they don't seem to get the proportions or the shape quite right. Nice finishes on all them though.
I didn't spend anything yesterday - apart from a few Banksia nuts from Brad's Burls (4 for $5). I can never seem to find those really big ones anywhere. Maybe I'll be a little more indulgent tomorrow.
I was quite impressed byt the demo of the Fein multi-tool - I hadn't seen one in action before. Obviously a certain member of our little group was too. They seem like a quality piece of gear so should last forever. Maybe I can put one on my Christmas wish list?
The Aussie jig looks quite useful and reasonably priced, but could the guy doing the demo be any more uninterested in the whole process? I know he's probably given the spiel hundreds of times but it was certainly one of the least inspiring presentations at the show. Just as well the product speaks for itself!
Anyway, looking forward to tomorrow. Will anyone be there (again)?

Goodies List
Ok, back from playing in the shed and down the surf club. What I got from the show yesterday: Supernova 2 chuck, 75mm Bowl Jaws, Nova 10 in 1 Tool, Nova Live Centre System, Jet Cast Iron 3" Faceplate, Carbitool 1/4" reducer & 19mm straight 1/2" router bit, Incra Miter V27, Ubeaut stuff ( Sanding Sealer x2, Trad Wax, Waxstick, Rotary Sander, Shellawax cream x2, Shellawax Glow), then Turning Blanks ( Lemon Scented Gum, Mango, Ti Tree, Silky Oak & Pupleheart), Stubby Openers, Sand Paper Rolls (80, 120, 240, 360 & 600).
I think that is it, 4 trips back to the car. Car parking cost $15 and I was there over 5 hours.
The most fun was meeting the people that inhabit this board
PS Neil, I can report that Chris was doing his job to promote ( or is that convert people to ) you products.Pat
