    Default Sydney wood working show

Im heading up the Sydney WW show in July this year (going to the Canb one also but Syd is first so want to make a day trip out of it ) and as this is my first WW show just wanted to know if there are decent sales on there?

I have the intentions of purchasing myself an early bday present while im there so i will have a budget to work with. Looking at a new Jet TS or if Festool have a stand there a Domino 500. Just wanting to know if the sales are significant enough that i should wait for the savings at the show rather than getting it from a retail store?

Another thing i was hoping that was even if there werent any sales it would be great see the product in the flesh and possibly use it or see it in use to then help me make my decision

Don't quote me, but I think you can use a Domino at the Festool stand. I think there are two vendors there who sell Festool, although I've only had experience with VEK and have found they will do some good pricing and provide good service.

Over the past few years there haven't been as many 'big machine' players with a table saw for demo - just my observation. I haven't been looking for a TS so I could be wrong.

    Default Price guarantee

I bought my table saw ( Woodman-SB1012C Tablesaw - Major Woodworking Equipment )from Major Woodworking at Padstow about 6 weeks before a WWWS.
I did the rounds of Carbatec, Hare & Forbes etc and then Major to establish what I was going to buy and from whom, with the Woodman unit from Major winning out.
The intention was to attend the WWWS to see what special pricing was on offer, but was guaranteed that buying it before the show would be at the show special price or better.
Anyway, I received the saw and had an extra 6 weeks to play with it, and had a friend try to better my price at the show, without luck.
If you can't wait for a new toy, give the above method a try.
    Good luck with your purchases.

Yes I tried the new Domino XL at the festool stand (which is actually F&K Tools). They have all the festool stuff there for your to try out. Carbatec are the other ones who will have festool stuff but F&K will give you a much better price, and know exactly what they are talking about and be able to answer all your questions. As for special prices, you can probably negotiate as good a price through the retailers. With the age of internet shopping, many suppliers don't bother going anymore, which is why every year the shows are getting smaller.

I don't know whether Carbatec will let you turn the tools on. They certainly won't allow it at their showrooms!

Yeah ive heard that the machines wont be operating. Also the more i have investigated the Laguna that i am most eager to see wont be there. All good though if i come home from the show without a bandsaw. From following other threads on here Gregory machinery deliver bandsaws so i should be covered. Maybe ill just pick up accessories galore while im there
