Default Timber & Working With Wood Shows 2010

Everyone thought it about time that I update you on what is happening at the 2010 Timber & Working With Wood Shows. We have a great program lined up with many new presenters - hopefully we have got something for everyone.

The Brisbane Show is only 10 weeks.................so count down is on. Promise we won't let you wait in long queues this year (we learnt our lesson last year!). The entry point to the show has been moved to the side of the building. As well you can buy tickets on line and there will be a special entry queue for all pre purchases. We will be putting up a special discounted price for forum members in the next few days.

We have a great line up of exhibitors this year, and its fantastic to see the return of some exhibiting companies who weren't at last years show. A full list of exhibitors will be on the web 10 days out from the show. Even though the show is going to be fuller this year we will still keep visitor services such as your visitor lounge - we won great praise for these last year!!

We are currently working on all of the copy for the website which will be live by the end of March, but here is a taste of what's happening in 2010.

Neil and Liz Scobie join us this year - Neil as you know is a maker of fine wood and Liz an artist in decorative finishes. Another new presenter is Patt Gregory who will be running presentations on Woodwork for Women - something that has been requested many times since taking over the shows. Guilio Marcolongo comes to Brisbane with us this year for the first time, and Stan Ceglinski returns as does Tim Skilton and David Foster. Kerry Neill is another first - he truly wowed the audience at the last show in Melbourne. Theo Haralampou another Queenslander is new to the shows, and one thing he will be presenting on is woodwork for kids, again something we have been asked for time and time again!

Tim Skilton will be running make the honey dipper competition. The competition is run at all of the shows with and each state prize will be airfares, accomodation and transfers for 2 to the grand final at the Melbourne Timber & Working With Wood Show in October. Carbatec have sponsored the major prize of the lathe.

We are also launching a new compeititon (the form will be on the web) whereby three people from each state will be chosen from the web to come and join Stan over the 3 days of the show to make an outdoor garden setting.

Another exciting piece of news is that Timber & Working With Wood is returning to Adelaide (we missed last year) - we have had a great response from exhibitors and the show promises to be a good one!

Will give you updates on the countdown to Brisbane
    until next time Liz

In my last post I forgot to mention another NEW presenter for the shows who needs no introduction to anyone on this forum. Neil Ellis from U-Beaut is joining us for all of the shows and is on our main presentation program with demonstrations and information, on all sorts of finishing.
