Default Wood show - show us your score

Ok so it was the first day of the Sydney show today. I'm attaching my new scores from today.

Photo 1: I bought the Jet 14" bandsaw that Trend Timber is using as a demo for the show. Upgraded guides and fence.

    20130726_140142.jpg

Photo 2: I bought a Cougar 350 EVS lathe, and a Teknatool Supernova chuck

    20130726_160227.jpg

Photo 3: here's the stuff I was actually able to bring home today.
Robert Sorby turning tools, Teknatool Supernova chuck, Wenge for candle holders, silky oak bowl blank, purpleheart small bowl blanks, Blackheart sassafras square blanks, camphor turning blanks x 4.

    2013-07-26 16.14.35.jpg

Lots of fun, but I have completely exhausted all brownie points. Well... I now have 12 months to earn some more before the next show!

    Simon.

Simon then I won't mention Hare and Forbes or Trends open days in November you could also loose big on brownie points.

Haha nope I think getting more major toys in November is unlikely. Got a fair few bowls to sell before I break even again haha

Always best to ask for forgiveness than permission hey

What a score bassmansimon,. First lathe is it?

I'm picking up a lathe tomorrow also and got a jet bandsaw a few weeks back from Sydney area. You'll never leave the cave with those toys

Great score. I picked up some work shop consumables but am looking forward to playing with the Arbortech turbo plane and mini turbo plane I picked up.
Why is my work bench never tidy?

Nice work on the jet bandsaw. I can't wait to get mine home. It is the one that Trend Timbers is using to demo. Was new in the box on Thursday.

Not my first lathe. I also have a Jet midi 1220vs which is now going to my father's place so we can both have toys rather than trekking back & forth every time we want to make something.

    Default I'll be there!

Spent tonight and had dinner with the family at the Tradies.
My son is picking me up tomorrow so we'll be there with his family tomorrow early.
Hopefully be able to see someone from the Forum there.

Well, I finally took the plunge (no pun intended) and bought one of these: Festool OF 2200 Router - Undeniably the perfect router. - YouTube

I also bought some router bits, a 2" wide skew chisel (been looking for one for years) and some diamond laps for an upcoming sharpening demo at a club.

Wow , that is one hell of a router.
I'll list my haul later. Some of it is coming in the mail.
Those were the droids I was looking for.

Sounds like I was one of the very few who didn't spend much!
I only bought $30 worth of Gorilla Glue [$60RRP] and a toy wheel cutter...
I wasn't up to too much else, many next year with improved health.
Can't complain though, I enjoyed the time I had on the WWF stand & the little look around on the Friday.
    Cheers, crowie

You could mount it on a lathe and do some groovy grooving. With the plunge, you could do intermittent and variable depth grooving (if you're quick).

Just sayin'. I mean, if it don't go on a lathe it don't get a run, does it? Or is the flat-work corruption undeniably setting in?

I got to pick up my lathe on the way to the show. Thanks crowie for organising that. Bruce was a lovely fellow and up for a chat. Think my friend was keen on his other stuff not for sale yet so they swapped numbers lol

Since grabbing the lathe we then went to the show. Was submerged in VEK tools straight away but managed to get to the real stuff out the back

My friend picked up a few slabs but i just got these for some box making

Also a pen turning kit because that's one of my first interests with the lathe.

And after buying a few other bits and pieces i loaded up the ute for the trip home. Lathe underneath the slabs

Overall pretty happy with the SWWS and plan on returning next year. With more money i think though. The benefit for me is to inspect major tools like table saws etc before purchasing.

I was told by a particular individual that a certain tool by triton was the cheapest I will find anywhere by $60 and i should act quickly if i was interested. Just to check i looked online at an Australian supplier and found it cheaper by $70 of the listed price in front of me. Bit unfortunate that the prices weren't as cheap as what I expected being my first WWS. Nonetheless ill be back next year and bringing home more slabs. Maybe an arbotech mini grinder. That German fellow did an awesome of demonstrating taking chunks out of the scrap wood

    And some more photos

    Cheers
    Nathan
