Thank you SB for all your hard work sorting out the Brisbane rooster.....

In another thread there is a list of vendors which was very helpful.
    https://www.woodworkforums.com/f135/vendors-170840/

May I make a request of someone who's at the Brissy show please, to post some info from one of the vendors.....

    "Enjoy making wooden toys"

They aren't listed on the Sydney show vendors list.
Thank you in advanced, much appreciated.
    Cheers, crowie

    Enjoy the show all........

On the Exhibitor List, it is just "Wooden Toy Plans and Patterns"

Thinking of grabbing the Ironing Board plans when I am back there on Sunday.

    SB,

I am hoping you have seen my post above #64 as I see you still have me on the roster, much to my disgust I will not be able to make it to the show so unfortunately I will not be able to attend and help out on the stand.
Sorry !! I was so looking forward to it as I enjoyed myself last year

    Thanks
    Tony.

They are in the camera . Chambezio took a couple but he is doing the tourist thing today and won't be back to base until tomorrow.

Unknowingly to me, the photo's that I took of the stand of Friday were no good. Some one had been playing with my wifies camera and didn't tell me that she had been playing with the settings. Anyway, I enjoyed my time. Always hate walking out to go home, no more for another year.

Neil, Enjoyed you demo's and my chat with Pauline. One suggestion, some leaflet holders near the photo's might be useful for those we miss when deep in discussion. Just a thought.

Hope they don't move the show to the Gold Coast. Unless of course if it was at the Casino, that would be interesting. Might finally be able to get my wife to the show then

We have to be a little careful as to how we answer that and in fact last year there was great debate on the future of the show itself.

Remember too that there are many purposes for exhibitors attending the show. For some it is purely and simply to sell goods and make a profit. Others are there so they can be seen (and not forgotten) and others are there to launch themselves upon a market.

There is yet another group that are there for promotion purposes only and the Forum stand is in that category. So a measure of success is difficult. Numbers did seem a little low, but we would have to wait for official statistics to confirm or debunk that.

I heard at least one comment that an exhibitor thought it had been slow in terms of people, but when they totted up the sales the figures were well up. Clearly a few people can spend a good sum of money and equally a large attendence can just be there for entertainment and not spend a razoo.

Another exhibitor I spoke with was just there to promote their company, as they were a newbie to the market, and wanted to show their distributors they were serious.

My impression on the first two days of being on the Forum stand was that the people who were there was genuine woodworkers rather than day trippers. This was based on how many people kept walking when I asked them if they were a member of the forums. Very few kept walking and the majority would converse with those of us present on the stand.

Friday is a different day to Saturday (of course, durh !). By that I mean it is a working day for most and the school kids are there too, although not as many as in past years. I had an interesting conversation with an industrial arts teacher who said they don't bring them anymore because the restrictions are too onerous. They can't walk in the front door and say "go for it, try not to break anything and be back at 4.30 to catch the bus." Apparantly they have to shepherd them around under constant supervision.

Does that help at all? Probably not ! I heard another forumite, who shall be nameless, because I have forgotten who said it, say he thought it was better than the Sydney show because that city included a whole host of fringe type exhibitors not directly related to woodworking.

Short answer is I can't really answer your question and we will have to wait for a little more statistical information to filter through and perhaps the thoughts of others.

    Regards
