If you are worried about the doctor/s stuffing up your licence, just go interstate to a big city, go to an all-in-one 'Medical Centre' after skipping breakfast & get the testing done there. If they think you need to see a specialist for an existing condition they can arrange that or give you a generic referral letter (so Medicare will pay) which you can take to a specialist back home. Since they are not in the state where you hold your licence there is no obligation for them to breach doctor/patient confidentiality.
I lost an uncle from a dingbat doctor who wouldn't test him for diabetes as he was a part time taxi driver and a heavy vehicle driver for the local council - he died from heart failure caused by the untreated diabetes.

I apologize for mistakenly linking your rant to Centrelink, Timeless.
I still stand by my defense of DOT and other government workers on the whole.
I, like you, have worked in government employment. I was a teacher for 40+ years. I held
several positions which gave me a wider ranging experience than most teachers. These
positions required me to work closely with other government agencies. Believe me I saw
plenty that would curl your hair.
As you have illustrated in your reply to my post it is the systems that are mainly at fault.
While I agree that certain individuals need to be weeded out, the fixing of the system is of
prime concern. This would then lessen the extent of the problems that will always be encountered.
I therefore stand by what I said.. Play the ball and not the man.

No wukkas
No wukkas - we are good!
Systemic failures can be fixed - bad guys can't!
I work at correcting one and eliminating the other.
