I had the gastroscopy yesterday and the results are good as no varices were found that needed banding. This means that I won't need another for a year or so.

Was out like a light whilst the procedure was done and afterwards all I had was a sore throat and after a good night sleep I feel well to have a day of enjoyment before the Chemo tomorrow.

Fingers crossed, I knew an old Bloke in Cairns who had that liver chemo treatment and he lived past the age of 90.

I had the treatment yesterday and did not need much pain relief during and after.

The worst part was that after laying about 90 minutes flat on my back for the procedure I had to keep laying flat for another 3 hours without movement to allow the chemo to stay where it was put and to stop the entry wound for opening up.

Felt fine this morning and came home. No pain and no nauseous feelings but that may still come.

During the morning I started to feel tired so stayed in bed all day where I think I will spent a fair bit of time whilst the chemo is working.

The next CT scan is already booked for a month time to see how effective the procedure was.

It's now 2 weeks since the chemo and whilst I haven't had major pains( a good thing) I have not been too well.

Every time I've moved I had a lot of muscle aches and been very, very tired so sleep has been a main part of my activities these two weeks.

I've also been feeling dizzy and burping a lot. This may be from my recent gastroscopy or the chemo.

Had to go to the Austin today for blood tests as I've an appointment next Wednesday with the Liver doctors and I'll ask about that.

My follow up CT scan and Oncology appointment are made for next months so I'll find out how successful it has been so far.

Since my last post another two weeks have passed slowly so it's now 4 weeks since the chemo.

It was much easier then I expected. No major pains, no nauseousness, no hair loss but a lot of minor aches when I moved around and continually being tired and in need of regular power naps.

First two weeks I did not drive for safety reasons but during this week I've made up for it catching up what I did not do during that period.

During the last two weeks I have been doing some garden maintenance (an hour at the time and then a rest) which may not seem much but helped to remove the feeling of being useless.

On purpose I stayed away from the workshop as I did not feel comfortable using power tools in my condition but my confidence is returning.

Next will be that on Monday I will have another CT scan to see how effective it has been with the appointment with the Oncology doctors on Wednesday.

I understand that if not all the cancer cells have died I will need to have either another chemo treatment or have the remaining cells killed by microwave treatment.

So let the next stage of fun and games begin.

Default Good news and some bad news.

I saw the Oncology doctors yesterday and the original 25 mm blob of cancer cells in my liver has died of completely as a result of the chemo. This is a great result and has removed the cloud that was hanging over me.

However the CT scan showed up another small spot of cancer which will need further treatment either by way of Chemo or microwaving it and arrangements are being made with the Radiology doctors to do this part.

Now that I know what to expect with chemo it will be much easier this time and if microwave treatment is suitable that will be even better.

So I'll live to fight another day (or years ) but will of course need regular preventative scans as I'll always be susceptible to this kind of cancer.

So today , even though the sky looks dark, I feel bright and happy, ready to face the next part of my health journey.
