Smile Great body on the outside but rotten away inside.

Five years ago I last posted about my health journey in the thread called A Time for reflection

In that I outlined about my Prostate cancer journey (of now 11 years) for which I'm still regularly getting injections to control the remaining cancer, my breathing problems and my auto immune hepatitis.

My breathing problems have become worse over the years so that now strenuous effort is way beyond me and walking distances has become so that I now have a disabled permit to assist with going shopping etc. Although that is bad enough I'm coping with it.

But in that thread I also posted that I will have to have an abdomen ultrasound every 6 months to make sure that I haven't developed liver cancer. Something that I'm now susceptible to.

They were prophetic words because these test showed that now I have liver cancer and will have to have targeted chemo to hopefully kill this new cancer.

I'm getting to think my body must look like a house eaten by termites, great on the outside but rotten inside.

But I'm still alive and active.

    Peter.

Yeah hang in there. Hope you can at least stay active.

I'm also a bit rotten inside. Only one kidney that's not working properly, Over active lymphatic system that sends all the alarm bells ringing when I have my regular scans. Bung right knee that flares up from time to time. Not that bad really - nothing life threatening - I should be grateful. On the plus side I managed to get into some jeans I was last able to get into some 17 years ago. Luckily I kept most of my old clothes are the newer ones, especially the pants are looking decidedly baggy. I also lost a fair bit of padding of my behind. Went to watch a grandie swimming at the local pool and the only seats going were some concrete steps - sore backside in about 30s - this hasn't happened to me for decades.

Thanks for the response guys, much appreciated.

I have been very busy this year with first converting a box trailer into a mini teardrop style caravan for my daughter, then altering part of the garden to make a parking spot for it and finally reorganizing the two tool storage sheds so that I can get to the not often used tools easily.

All that took a year which is twice as long as when I was fit and well but it got done and at my age (75 years young) I'm not in a rush anymore. I now need help with lifting and using a trolley more and more and pushing things up an incline is getting too much now.

I was a bit depressed on officially hearing it although I knew from the sudden tests ordered by the liver department that I had it, but now that the booking for the chemo session is made for the 12th of September I'm again looking forward to beating this too.

    Peter.

Default Que sera sera, whatever will be it will be

This week is the week where it all will be happening in my ongoing health battle.

Tomorrow I will have a Pre-op session with the Radiology department explaining exactly what will be done and how etc.

Tuesday I will have my regular yearly Gastroscopy to see if my stomach is still okay and if banding of minor blood capillaries is necessary. This is part of my ongoing liver management.

Wednesday is my day of for recuperation.

Thursday is the big day where the chemo will be inserted directly to the cancer in my liver through one of my blood artery near my groin. This will be a 2 hour procedure with only local anesthetics and will require an overnight stay in hospital.

Friday I will come home , all things being well and no infection occurring, and spend the day and weekend recovering.

After that it is a wait and see for 4 weeks, then further tests and scan and maybe a repeat procedure until the cancer is killed of.

So let the fun and games begin.

    Peter.
