Our son’s condition has declined over the Easter weekend and now is barely conscious with very little intake of food and water. Palliative Care doctor today recommended that it would not be in his best interests to move him closer to home. He is being fitted today with a automated syringe driver to administer pain relief and calmative medication over 24 hours and the doctor has written a letter of exemption for the family to cover the Coronavirus travel restrictions.

    Dear apple8,
This is a very difficult time for both you and SWMBO.
There is no way I can adequately express my feelings at this time.

Yes you are allowed to openly cry and scream to the Gods for the injustice they cause.

Please, please, if at all possible, get your son made redundant today don't wait till tomorrow.

    BTW
You should not need a "letter of exemption" allowing the family to travel.
Your son is so gravely ill, that common decency should see you and his immediate family waived through to his palliative care room. No ifs, no buts.

my very sincere best wishes to you, SWMBO and your son's siblings and nephews and nieces.
    regards from Alberta, Canada

There's nothing I can say that will make things better but you, your wife and other family members are in my prayers

Apple8, Just been reading all this news. SO terribly, terribly sad and heart wrenching. Like others have said, there are no words to make things better, but please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and all those family and friends close to you all. Just so sad.

    Thinking of everyone,

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers, they are a comfort to us.

I set up a email address for his work colleagues and all the responses thank him for helping them realise their full potential and his quirky sense of humour that lifted them up to keep going, it’s good to know that he is held in such high regard.

His employer has been very helpful and they have a very generous salary insurance package should he use all of his sick pay although that is the least of our concerns at the moment, there are some things that money can’t buy.

Not so helpful and frustrating is the the financial institutions with the hoops we have to jump through, understandable in a way due to scammers. Being a millennial most of his things are on line or the phone which is locked. Best success I’ve had here is where there is a store front and a face to face conversation.

Please accept my deepest sympathies on the death of your beloved son.
I truly hope that during his final days his care was as you would wish and that in the end his passing was peaceful.

Yes you are allowed to scream at the injustice that your son was taken so soon.

my best wishes to you and SWMBO, hang in there.
