Could be a struggle for me this week guys. Father's Day was too kind, nice food, nice beer and a bottle of red! Tried to compensate with a few walks and 3 bike rides. Lets see how i go on Friday.

Hi Guys,
I don't wish to hijack your tread, but this may be somewhat pertinent.
I've been trying really hard, over the last 5 weeks, to lose weight. Watching/controlling my energy intake, and increasing my exercise level. In truth I'm constrained somewhat by a bung knee, so I am walking and doing low a impact aerobics session each day.
Initially I had a 3 kg weight loss ( big grins), but that has gradually been reduced and am now nearly back to where I started. This has been getting me quite despondent, as I have really been committed and am trying really hard. This morning I decided to check my measurements, and found that I have lost 4cm from around my waste.
WOOOBLOOODYHOOO.
Apparently, I have added weight in muscle, but burnt off fat. So it seems that weight loss is not necessarily a good measure of results.Chris

One thing of note, the other half told me I don't snore anymore!-Scott

You are right Chris. I weigh the same as I did 5 years ago but am much fitter, and more flexible. Most exercise will not only drop fat but build muscle which is a great thing. Setting a weight goal is still useful though as many of us still have a nice layer of fat over all that new muscle. This weight loss program on this forum can't hurt, we just might have to go harder to compensate for all that extra muscle.
The real measure of health is having the physical ability to join in on life and how you feel about yourself. I, for one, feel so much better after I get out for a walk/ride/run. If a simple thing like this thread gets me off the couch then I'm happy.
