So I get it out there and it might help

Ok I have always had bad eye sight but it's one thing knowing it and another thing coming to terms with it

Coz I was a prem baby and had a bad start to life coz of my health
We new that my eyes were never be 100%

I have had glasses from the age of around 12 or13 and was told that my eyes will never get better they will get worse
And told I'd be blind in my right eye by 20

Well now at 27 my sight in
My right eye is down to about 5foot and that not clear I see shapes

I cand see left or right in both eyes can only see strate

Can't see in low light or in bright light

Was told by my eye dr I have the eyes of a 60 year old

    I can't drive
Not ment to ride my bike
Having to sell me big lathe for my own safety

I think hard coz I don't like to be see as different
But sometimes you have to just do what you can
It 27 you want to be out there living life not tripping over your own feet in shopping mall and haveing people ask you have you been drinking coz you trip over and land on your face getting of the train

There was talk about getting a blind dog in the next yr or so
I,e for being out in public so I don't trip or fall
(yeah what the hell do A blind guy what a blind dog for?? A dog that can see wd be better then a dog that cant se lol)
    DANGER!!!!

Hi, I feel for you mate!

If it looks like things are going to get even worse, perhaps starting to learn braille might be an idea?

Dave this takes guts to come out and say. Now the positive side learn to turn as much as you can now with the little one set yourself up, learn where everything is there are blind turners out there.

    I feel your anger Dave.

Your fiends here I am sure will support you.

Sorry to hear your plight Dave. All the best for the future.

I reckon as the 26th March is PURPLE DAY Purple Day | Epilepsy Action Australia we should get in and all woodies including TL wear something PURPLE.

Being that young Dave is a sufferer.

Sorry to hear of your problem with your eye Dave, not good. I have had an eye problem since birth and only have full vision in one eye and hardly any vision in the other so I sort of know what you are talking about. The vision in both my eyes have deterrorated over the years but I stll see reasonably okay with my "good" eye.
Something I have had to live with and adapt my lifestyle accordingly. However, your situation seems to be worse than mine and the prognosis not very good. I can only sympathise with you mate and hope things don't turn out as bad as predicted for you.

Keep your spirits up mate and don't give in. Life can be very unfair sometimes and it makes you think.

    Good luck for the future.

I wish you could tell good news but at the same time don't lose hope that your situation may yet be remedied soon. These days who knows somewhere someone always comes up with some ingenious propositions or devices.
I have had eye problems too and have mine checked every four months. So I have to be positive for you and for me too.

Hi Dave sorry to hear that mate, some of the stuff life sends us really sucks. I'm sure you will prevale though, you are clever with your hands and have a good bright brain so you will always find a way to make the things you want to. Hmm not sure how Labs go at wood turning one bark for start, two barks for stop but just when you get to the tricky part he's likely to look away and nibble his nuts or something.

Dave, sorry to hear that the old lamps are dimming.

On the matter of the Baby Yellow Peril, in the last AWR there was an article comparing a few Mini lathes, might be good reading for you.
