Scott thats one heck of a way to get time off to attend all 3 days of the woodshow.........it will I believe hamper shopping and carrying large items wood, tools bags, freebies. Glad it didn't hamper the photos though.
Hope it heals soon........I did see your post originally just slack in replying.

Not much publicity lately on Scott's hand's condition
but I can say it has improved a heck of a lot.
Will leave it to him to explain the vast improvement
which we have observed at the club.

Indeed! This Sunday will be week 11 post-op and I've been going to the hand therapist 1-2 times a week. Those at work think I'm lucky getting as many hand jobs as I am at the moment. I now have full movement but strength is an issue, last week I squeezed 50kg on my right hand and 18kg on the left. I also don't have any sensation at all on my index and ring finger but the surgeons are optimistic I'll get that back in 5-6 months.
This is what it looked like at 8 weeks:
Compared to post op 1 day:
I've now been cleared to resume full duties at work as of week 12. I got back on a lathe a couple of weeks ago. I think Alan and others were slightly aghast at my bead forming technique using a skew. I think Ken Wraight has set me in the right direction though. We're extremely lucky to have a man of his talents as a member of the Northern Woodturners.
So I think things are progressing well, ta for asking-Scott

Oh, by the way. Alan deserves a rich amount of credit for getting me out of the house and into Northern Woodturners. If it wasn't for Alan's generous offer to pick me up one day I wouldn't have met such a fantastic bunch of blokes at the Northern Woodturners. For anyone in Melbourne who lives in the northern, north west or north eastern suburbs, give us (Northern Woodturners) a go. Great facilities and people. Thanks Alan, you're a top bloke!

Good to hear things are going well Scott. Strength takes quite a while. It's been 2 years since I did my finger and it's still not back to pre injury, although not far off now.
If you find you have dug yourself a hole, the first thing to do is stop digging.
I just finished child-proofing our house - but they still get inside.

Thanks Oz. Lovely part of the world, Bathurst. If it weren't for my roots here, it'd be a toss up between Bathurst area and north coast of NSW.

Yeah, it's a good area. One of the things I like about it is the fact that we get four seasons. The winters aren't as cold as they used to be (or should I say as cold for protracted periods of time) but there is still a delineation between the seasons.
That, and it's only the cost of a local call to Saint Peter from here....If you find you have dug yourself a hole, the first thing to do is stop digging.

Great to have you at the club Scott and very pleased
to see you having a go at turning albeit with some discomfort.
Hope you resume full use of your hand in a minimum of time
and show us your full capabilities.
With Ken Wraight in attendance you are in "good hands".

Scott sounds good news............although the two fingered sign must be a bit hard to do ATM you'll just have to use the other hand.
Well done Allan can't have people rotting away mopping about feeling sorry for themselves.

I very pleased for you Scott to see your healing & recovery thus far; it always seems so long when walking down the road yourself.
Keep up with all the physio & O.T. as directed by those professionals, so you get back to full health & the shed work quicker.
Cheers, crowie
