Well some progress has been made with the ankle.

Took the dogs for a very short (200m) walk this morning.
Mucked about recharging the battery on the HIACE - hasn't been driven for 4 weeks.
Put camping stuff away up into the attic, which meant climbing the attic ladder several times.
Made 3 BMHs - so standing up to the WW lathe.
All without wearing the moon boot.
The ankle is a bit sore now, knee sorer than ankle.

Hopefully it's going to get better as we go along.

Went for my 6 monthly with the Sarcoidosis specialist last Thursday - I'd had more blood tests the week before. He reckoned the test results are good enough to take me of some of the Hydroxychloroquine (all the more for Mr Trump) meds. Blood tests have been cut back to every 3 months and my next PET scan has been scheduled for Dec. If things keep going as they have gone in the last few months the docs going to start taking me of the cortisone as well. Its consistent with improvements in energy levels. Just wish my knee was a bit better - still, can't have everything.

Latest Scans and Blood tests are looking really good.

The scans show that the active sarcoids (inflamed and calcified lymph glands) I had previously all through my body are almost all inactive.
There are just a few small active ones still in my liver, kidney and bones. No active ones in lungs or around heart - Whew!

My Blood ACE levels are now slight lower than average which also indicates the remaining sarcoids are having very little effect on my system.

Ca levels are slightly above normal but the Doc reckons that's now most likely my normal state.

Doc has started me on slowly reducing my cortisone intake over the next few months and wlll monitor this with Blood tests.

This all kicked off 4.5 years ago - interesting that the average life cycle for Sarcoidosis is 5 years.

    Best Xmas Present ever !

How is your lung function, Bob?

I understand that fibrosis is a residual outcome for some after remission.

Something we woodworkers could do without!

I only had a few Sarcoids around my lungs and the last lung function test showed no change in lung function - about average for my age.
The sarcoids of greatest concern are around heart and major blood vessels but are still not big or calcified enough to impair function

Had blood tests and a PET scan last week.
All good - the ACE levels are lowest ever and the sarcoids (calcified lymph glands) around my heart and lungs all inactive, as are those around other organs. Just a few remaining active sarcoids around my bone joints, this is apparent a good sign showing the disease is winding down.
Finally the results are good enough to start a med reduction program so, as of now, I no longer have to take Hydroxycloroquine !
In typical fashion I just bought a big bottle of these pills about two weeks ago!

I will slowly be dropping my cortisone meds over the next 6 months but to monitor progress I am back to blood tests every month (was every 3 month).

    Happy days.

As a diabetic with only one kidney that's not working all that well, plus hypercalcemia (high blood calcium) and the usual high blood pressure, high cholesterol etc I wouldn't say I'm out of the woods just yet. Apparently I'm prime Covid comorbidity material so I'm laying low for a while. No indoor social events eg with the grandies or family, don't go to the shops. Our fortnightly outing is usually to a local cafe at 7:30 am when there's no one around and have breakfast outside in their back garden.

I walk the dogs every early morning (6-7am) for somewhere between 30 minutes and and an hour and once a week a 5km+ walk with a couple of old school mates.

SWMBO is completely anal about masks and hand sanitising and social distancing etc, says she doesn't trust me so she does all the shopping including hardware shops etc . However, she has vertigo so she can't drive so I drive her to the shops/pharmacy etc and wait in the car with the dogs or take them for another walk. I buy most of what I need for wood and metal work on-line, and mill timber by myself every now and then at a tree loppers yard. I get there around 7:30am which is when all the lads have all gone out for the day and leave between noon and 2pm which is usually well before they get back at

Well you have quite the routine going there, which is obviously very important when taking all your health issues into account, I am a stage 4 big C survivor and when I had my PET scam I lit up like a Christmas Tree, I am now 7 years in remission and the doc's only really do tests to see if my body is having any side effects from the 5 different types of chemo they gave me. It's only when you have to deal with these things that you start to look more at what you want to do with your life.

It sounds like you have gone a multi rounds battle as well, although my Sarcoidosis (which presents in a PET scan like Lymphoma) is not really in the same league as stage 4C. The weird thing with my sarcoidosis was, apart from significant fatigue in 2018/19 where I was having 3/4/5 naps a day, the sarcoidosis did not really affect me above and beyond my other heallth problems.

Most sufferers only have sarcoidosis in a few specific organs, (usually in) where it can harden the lungs and reduce breathing. A friend of mine about the same age has had a 1/4 of a lung removed due to sarcoidosis although he's now actually a fitter person than me. I also had somesarcoids in my lungs (in fact all through my torso) but have had no breathing difficulties since I was diagnosed with it. However the Docs were concerned about the large number of sarcoids around my heart and major blood vessels which can eventually seriously restrict heart function - those sarcoids are no longer active but have partially calcified so could still present a future risk.

I also lit up like a Xmas tree during many PET scans. During 2017 to 2020, every time I had a PET scan every radiologist (different person to the radiographer who administers the scan) who would quickly look at the scan after it was taken and would come out to the resting area and have a chat with patients, was always shocked to see me so well. They all said when we see someone like me, who lights up the scanner like a Xmas tree right across their body, that person is normally on a hospital bed or at least in a wheel chair. Mostly apparently see a few small lights on scans in specific parts of the body so "Xmas trees" patients tend to make their day especially if the patient is actually well. I actually felt like a bit of a fraud in the waiting room as most of the other patients looked decided unwell, specially some on gurneys and in wheel chairs.

Saw the kidney specialist today - it looks like my kidney (I only have one) issues have stabilised. It appears to have been increasingly stable over about the last 18 months possibly because my sarcoidosis is slowly fading away. Anyway he said there's no need for me to see him again. He's recommending my GP monitor things with 6 monthly blood tests and if things go wonky then get back to him.

My current (minor) problems are sore feet from increasingly standing in the shed, and a 10km and a 5 km walks I did in the last week. Knee seems to be holding up to these distances which I am really pleased about. I did the 10km walk with 3 other guys and our two dogs - gas bagging away so's I didn't notice the distance we had covered until close to the end when I noticed my feet were hurting. Also hurt that night and the next day. Thought I'd shake it out the next day with a 5km walk with the dogs but that just made my feet sorer. Maybe call in a rest day in between these longer walks.
