Thread: Got the jab today.

Ahhhh, that dreaded phrase..."We're from the gub'mint, and we're here to help you."

Having just been through 18 months of waffle with little concrete action after losing our house in the bushfires, why am I not surprised that their COVID response is equally inept?

I got my jab yesterday afternoon, no effects yet. The wife got hers last week at our local GP. I could not get in when I tried. Not taking bookings I was told a few weeks ago. Two weeks ago they were booked out till Xmas. I found another clinic 20min. up the road. Booked in for yesterday two weeks ago. I went up and they had two young kids out front arguing who will take the temps. Young kid about 10 was pressing the temp gauge against the patients foreheads. Contact from 1pt to the next. When they weren't dropping and breaking the gauge. Complete up. Jab went well, no problems but real. cowboys. No problems with jab.

The set up for my jab was well thought out. The medical service that I go to has approx 5 doctors so they were able to lease a small office with several rooms in the same complex specifically for Covid vaccinations and allocate 1 doctor per day. If you need to see a doctor for any other purpose, you go to the usual clinic. If you are there for vaccination you are directed to the separate rooms down the hall.

About 6 chairs around the reception desk like a standard clinic but when you check in with the receptionist she directs you to a separate waiting room where you wait for the doctor to pop in and call your name. Next to the waiting room is a refrigeration unit that keeps all the vaccinations at the correct temp.

Doctor finishes with 1 patient who goes out to the chairs near the reception and waits for 15 mins to assure there is no severe reaction....the doctor then goes to the fridge, takes out the next syringe and calls your name as she heads back to her room.

You follow the doctor in...answer some questions...ask any questions..when all OK, you get the jab.

The doctor notes the time of the vaccination and writes your "release" time at 15 mins later. You are directed to wait out near the reception until your time is up.

Rinse & Repeat......all works like clockwork.

Could even have some efficacy benefits, apparently, in addition to potentially simplifying logistics.

Have to admit, the way this has been handled shows VAST incompetence by our government.

Really, how hard is it to roll out a vaccination program, considering there are ALREADY vaccination programs (for kids/adults) for any number of diseases.

Just HOW HARD is it to simply distribute this one along with the supply chains of the others?


My mind boggles at the obfuscatory, convoluted and haphazard methods utilised... the arbitrary constantly-changing rules.

Its as if the federal government doesn't have our interests at heart...


EXACTLY WHY when one has the swab-up-the-nose that you aren't immunised with Shot 1 or 2 right there and then..... why? You are already THERE!

One rule for me, another for thee.


Seems to me they should be like the captains of the boat, the LAST to get off, for many good reasons.

The problem is that they ACTUALLY believe that they are essential.

I had my 2nd jab yesterday and again no side effects from the A-Z vaccine.

Ran like clockwork, same as in my first post, in and out in 20 minutes. Can not complain how my local GP clinic ran the system.

I've been waiting patiently since January 1996 to take a sick day that didn't involve a surgeon first.

Mate, I'd reckon that if one were to have a sick day off at work and it required a SURGEON to sign off on it.... there would be near perfect attendance!

I had my second dose of Pfizer on Tuesday, yesterday was horrible, I think I only got out of bed 3 times. I haven't felt that sick in a very long time, sore joints & muscles, migraine and slight fever.

Feeling better today, just some sore joints and a headache left.

I still think it's worth it.

We had our second jab Astra-Zeneca 24 hours ago and no after effects so all good.
They gave us details of how to get proof of Covid-19 vaccination through Medicare so will follow that.
