    Default Lifting device.

Hi all, hoping someone can give some good advice.
We are shortly going to move my wife's mother in with us, she has been hospitalised since the beginning of July and has gone from fit and healthy to very poor, losing the full use of her left leg from a suspected spinal bleed. Staff are not expecting her to regain the full use of the leg and will be in a wheelchair to get around, she can stand and pivot on her good leg to get from wheelchair to toilet etc.
Here's the problem, our car is a 4WD with seats one meter from ground level, we need to be able to raise her from a standing position from the wheelchair to the car seat height. This device then needs to be able to be put in the car to assist her back out at the destination.
I've made a couple of enquiries, to no avail, surely such a device must exist?

    Thanks in advance,
    Geoff.

Hi, this doesnt help in the short terms but are you in the process of hooking up with the NDIS (if she is eligbile)? Im sure professionals/occupational therapists in this field can suggest something suitable.

    Hi Q,
My MIL has progressed to the extent that she can now stand from her wheelchair onto a 200mm raised step and get into the car. This is a good outcome because it means that either of my wife's siblings can pick her up and take her to visit friends etc, without being limited to one vehicle.

    Cheers,
    Geoff.
