Hi all,
I kinda forgot about this post, so here is an update. I bought a new mill with power X and Y axis feeds, best investment ever. Recovery has been slow, use a stress ball for finger exercise, but still drop things I should be able to hold easily. I had sorta resigned myself to always having numb fingers, but bugger me, I was on the wood lathe two weeks ago and youngest daughter came into the shop. During the conversation I jumped, thought I got an electric shock off the lathe. Being a leckie, I flicked it with the back of my fingers, felt nothing, tripped and reset the RCD, all OK, went back and recreated what I touched and jumped like sh#t. I then rubbed the bottom edge of my little finger and it was very painful. I was seeing the doctor that afternoon as I have broken my little toe. He had a look with his cancer looking glass and said I have chaffed a layer of skin off and the nerves are now exposed. He did some sharp needle tests and it appears that the damaged nerves have now all come back to life. You have no idea how good this is to get feeling back in those two fingers again. It is now quite an unusual feeling trying to work, given the wood lathe away for a while, but he said it will settle in a few weeks.
Rgds,
Crocy.
