Why would it make sense to register if, like me, you're against it?

1. Because then you have made sure that no-one can say to the contrary; and
2. It relieves friends and relatives of the burden of making decisions in relation to this issue in circumstances when you are dying and they are upset as a result.

Still doesn't make sense as the system first require you to register and then you can remove yourself.

Until they allow me to have a say in the kind of person that gets my organs I will refrain. Wouldn't want an alcoholic, smoker, junkie or old and senile person to get my organs.

Not much point in me registering. What bits that aren't wrecked like my heart, (coronary arteries) eyes (cataracts & glaucoma), knees (no cartilage left), back (three compressed disks), Kidneys (nephritis), ears (Tinnitus), Intestines (Diverticulitis), Arms (Carpel Tunnel) Feet (Periphial Neuropathy) Head (Bald) and Pancreas (Diabetes) the rest of my bits are really worn out and donating anything to anyone would set them on a degraded path for the rest of their life.

Apart from all that I am in pretty good health.

My lungs are pretty good but if I was going get any donated parts I don't think I would want anything from a 69 year old phart.

It is rare that someone that has a dodgy medical record will get the organs. Especially since there is a major shortage of donors, they are only given to people that really need and deserve them.

For me They can have whatever they can use. If the last thing I do on this earth is help other people live, I will die a happy man!

If they can dig out any after I been BBQ'd they can have it. Don't like the idea of going into Hospital with a cold or whatever and leaving minus a part. I need all my bits in the afterlife. If we stop donating then they will have to start cloning organs that much sooner. If you die and donate its cheap for the medical profession - costs a bomb to the recepient. I must say that there is an exception, I have left my a-hole to the left wing politicval parties to enable them to speak more clearly.

Perzactly, as a long term blood donor, done in an effort to one day put back what my father took, and as a result gave us another 20 years with him, they can use every bit that is useful and put the balance out for the garbo's. As far as I'm concerned once you are dead the body is just a putrifying mess of know use to you or anyone else so why be so annal and refuse to give the living a chance at something better than what they have got.

For all those who give blood, did you know that you can put your name on a register with the Red Cross as a Bone Marrow Donor? They are always short on donors to match, and in particular those of the ethnic variety (ie; not your typical Anglo type...no offence intended).

Only requirement I think is that you are under the 50 year mark.

I was on it for only 18 months or so before I got the letter to say I had been matched to a kid in Europe and better come in for more testing and discuss things. Fealt like I had won the lottery! A few weeks latter I received another letter to say they had found someone even better. Fealt like it was raining virgins and I got washed down the drain with a poof. I suppose thems the highs and lows of being a star, if only for a flicker.

Anyway, you should all register if you feel you would like a direct involvement in saving a life, and live to feel good about it. Really someone is dying for your marrow.
