Developed mine while doing a lot of ladder work, painting and the like. Only improved after the physio suggested I stop walking for a while. Got around on a bicycle for a few weeks and the problem disappeared. Very careful now with ladders and find Steel Blues the best for fit and arch support. Wear WigWam socks too.

I reckoned I was the only person in the world with this bloody sore complaint. I have been struggling with the pain for more than 6 months- not knowing what it was. Finally went to the GP. He told me to roll a frozen can under my heal. Didn't seem to have any effect. Went back to him, he told me cortezone would help, but I will only use it as a last resort. He then sent me to a Podiatrist. He strapped up the bottom of my whole foot and told me to wear shoes ALL the time [I hate shoes]. The strapping did relieve some pain but didn't stop it. He also told me to roll the frozen can and stretching exercises. Well I have been a bit slack with the stretches. I had been away on a bit of a break for a week and thought that sitting and driving should have given the foot enough time to heal WRONG, its worse than ever. I did ask the Podiatrist if I would be cured to which he said it would take time. If I watch TV or even sitting here in front of the computer for a longish period I can hardly take the first step on the affected foot due to the pain.
I read all the previous posts so I now know it is wide spread. I think I damaged it while working off a ladder by standing for long periods on the ball of my foot and pivoting from there. I feel very restricted in what ever I do because of the stiffness and pain. The pain has crept up the outside of the foot now just to add to the discomfort.
Instead of whinging about it I will just have to do the stretches and keep up the frozen can.
If anyone wants this affliction, I am willing to let you have it cause I am sick of it.
Thanks for reading about my whinge
    Just do it!

    Kind regards Rod

    Default plantar fsacittis

Having had this problem and without any medical intervention, I froze a bottle of water and
continued to roll it under my foot for about 5-10minutes 3 or 4 times a day. I found that it worked
over a period of about 10 days. Hope that helps. Drillit.

It's pretty bleeding wearing having regular pain isn't it.

Bear in mind that if it took months or years to develop it's going to take time to deal with it.

Your GP may be able to prescribe some meds to help along with physical therapy.

Yeh thanks Ern I hear what you are saying. I can remember in the past while kneeling I had a burning sensation on the sole of the foot so I think you are right saying it has taken a while to end up where it is now.
Thanks Drillit I will have a go at the frozen can
With the ever present depression it is very easy to "drop my bundle" with something like this complaint. So I need to catch myself before giving in to the depression.

As always with this Forum .....good practical advise given and so quick too Thanks gents
    Just do it!

    Good luck with it.

I find it helpful to get into a routine (I have to work out most days to keep on top of aches and pains). What works for me is to go down the gym first thing. I don't think about it; just do it after a cuppa. The plus is that there are other old pharts down there and we have a bit of a yak. The young woman on reception always greets us with a cheery hello.
    Cheers, Ern

    Keep up the stretches.
I found doing them for only a minute or two about 10 to 20 times a day that I had improvement within days and the problem completely disapeared in about 6 weeks, the trick is to keep at it.
