Good to hear that it's all clear with you guys. Don't forget to get regular checks done so that any change gets picked up early.

Soon be over.. you have had a wait for the op. Your post has helped a lot of men judging by the response... It took me a year at least to stop having incontinence but a friend of mine had the op a few weeks ago and has no trouble with the water works

Good to hear the clear results and experiences of others.
The time for going under the knife is just 3 weeks away and mentally I'm prepared for the op. I will be glad to have it finished so I can start the recovery back to a normal life.
Nearly finished the last major job before the op, only need to bring in and level a m3 of lilydale toppings in the bbq area.
I'm glad that the convalescence period will be during the coming cold period as I won't feel guilty about not doing much outside or in the workshop.
Peter.

Hi Peter,
You may recall that I went for my operation on
5th March and was discharged on 7th March. Mine
was a benign prostate condition and everything
went well. However I did have a massive chest,
throat and ear infection on being discharged.
Everything ok for a couple of weeks but think I
aggravated the prostate wound because of my
incessant coughing. Result - back in hospital
for a further four days as everything had clogged
up and not able to pass anything. Pretty painful
stuff.
My condition was a little more complex as a result
of having to knock off my heart tablets before and
after the operation.
Pleased to report that everything now going well
and can "pee through the eye of a needle at
three metres".
Will be thinking of you and trust you have an easy
time of it.
Allan

Peter
I have been following this thread vith great interest. I too am at the stage in life where the topic is of greater relevance.
Thank you for having the courage to "come out" about it. Most of us guys are shy and retiring when it comes to such issues and particularly when it's personal.
Best wishes for the op tomorrow and a speedy recovery.

Peter,
Been following this thread with interest. I started last year having the test. All clear so far.
It's my birthday tomorrow as well as my dad's (he's 83) and my sister's (she doesn't like her age being told - she's 9 years younger than me).
I don't wish for any birthday presents but I this time I will, 'everything goes well for you'.

The time for waiting is over.
It is now 10 weeks since I found out from the biopsy that I have cancer in my prostate. During this time I have come to terms with it and am satisfied that the operation to remove my prostate, notwithstanding the possible side effects, is essential and for me the only option available.
I finished on the weekend all the jobs around the house that I had on the go and instead of relaxing these couple of days, last night my wife suggested that she would like her ironing room reorganised. So today I removed shelves and reattached them elsewhere and moved the TV aerial to the new location. At least I won't be under pressure to do this after the operation.
Yesterday I had some further blood tests as ordered by the hospital and today I have confirmed with them that tomorrow, bright and early, I will have the necessary operation.
I have been encouraged with the many good wishes from everyone, both here and elsewhere, and it is very much appreciated and this has sustained me.
So I will be absent from the board for about 5 days whilst in hospital and afterwards I'll report further.
Peter.
