    Default UK Oncogogist required.

Got any contacts in or near London?

We want to travel to the UK but my wife needs to have dose of immunology drug called Herceptin every 3 weeks.

The drug is available on NHS but we just need an oncologist to make it happen.

It will most likely require 3 visits, one as an initial consultation to get it set up & then one for each for each dose & we would like 2 doses.

We found a Cancer Clinic over there but they want $700 for each visit to their Professor & that doesn't include the cost of actually getting the drug.
They stopped talking to us when they found out that our Health Insurance won't cover us outside Oz.

You could email a few hospitals and see if you can arrange treatment on an outpatients basis under the NHS.

That is what we are trying now, that is how we found & found out about the Cancer Clinic, we are hoping for some recommendations.

    Yeehaw!

Got an answer from St Thomas' Hospital Westminster Bridge Road London.
They'll do it on the NHS. ( this saves us about $10K. )

St Thomas Hospital is/was Florence Nightingale's hospital.

    That's good news, Cliff.

If you have not been there before, it is over the bridge from Big Ben.
The Florence Nightingale museum is attached to the hospital and is well worth a visit.

Only time I've spent there has been in the transit lounge at the Aiprot.

I saw that on the map when I looked.

    Default The dreaded big C

Sympathise with you ,Cliff my wife has just had a relapse of breast cancer (after nine years of no problems) has two small tumours one on the lung another near the rib .She is currently under going chemo 3weeks on 1 off, thank god the tumour is shrinking, she is about half way through her treatment
so hopefully the future bodes well. She has just lost her best mate ,funeral was on Monday, she had had cancer for 25 years.Huge funeral ,over 600 people attended, she was the local ladies hairdresser so touched just about everybody in the town.My wife is being treated with Paclatoxal, which is derived from the spore which grows in the bark of the Chinese or Pacific Elm tree.Makes you wonder doesn't it.Best of luck and hope your wife is free of any complications whilst in the UK.
