See where I have been for a week
Saturday a week ago I woke up up quite cold. I got up and put another blanket on a went back to bed shivering. I was running a temperature hence the cold feeling. I shivered for the best part of the but really crook about 7pm. We got an ambulance out and they took me back into town to A&E. I remember arriving but have no recollection about the next 2 days. In A&E they tried to put a drip up but I fought them off and they got 5 blokes to hold me down to sedate me enough to start the procedure. It took them a while to find that had Meninjacockle, Meningitis and the flu. Yep I was one sick puppy.
I came home with double vision and a very itchy rash. I have an appointment with my GP on Wednesday to report the hospital visit. The Health Department has been in contact with the wife to be she that she is in no danger of getting it.
One thing I have learned is that you have to be crook to dieJust do it!
Kind regards Rod

Gee's Rod, what are you doing to yourself? That's the problem with you big blokes, it takes a lot of people to hold you down. The night's are pretty cold now so keep that fire cranked up. Give your wife my commiserations and try not to give her too much grief!

That's just totally stupid that those three nightmare conditions can hit someone so dam quickly, you're scaring the S#$% out of me now. I guess they have no idea why this happened so fast, and all at once?
Hope you recover in leaps and bounds.

Just an up date.....had a great day on Sunday. My brother and his wife came down the 70 miles from Armidale and bought some sausages and tomatoes for lunch. Yesterday though the rash I came home with decided to flare up. We contacted the GP because I have to report to him (on Wednesday. He said go straight to Outpatients. So in we go. They take some blood and find that it is clear but want to keep me all night just to be sure I am OK. Got home about ¾ hr ago just feeling tired and little scratchy.
An initiative from the State Health Dept had them contact the wife to be sure she and a daughter were checked out, because of the dangerous nature of the Meninjacockle. I can't say enough how good their service was. ALL the nursing staff were very good to me
Kryn......the other night on telly that Heather Ewart did a short trip down from your end of the Murray. It has inspired me to organise a trip so you will be able to meet my ugly mug in person. I am thinking spring time but will keep you posted
Thank you all for your kind thoughts......I can't believe how king people areJust do it!
Kind regards Rod

Another up date.....I am feeling fine although a little tired and have no incentive to do anything (That part could be the black dog). Here at the computer with readers on the vision is good. Crisp focus and no hint of the double vision. With my long vision glasses on and being out side it doesn't take long to get the double vision back. It is improving every day, but its slow. While the Doc is not allowing me to drive it means I have no drivers licence and the vehicle is not insured if I was driving. So I am adhering to his his advice.(wouldn't want to chance it....being passenger is scary enough because there is 2 lots of traffic coming at you).
Went to check in with the GP last Thursday. He spent a lot of time listening to the top right of my upper body.....yep, had to have an X-ray on Friday. Rang the GP for the result and...tomorrow I go for a CT Scan. He is looking for any "abnormalities". 10 years ago I had a blood clot on a lung. One of the side affects of Meninjacocle is lung collapse. I can't detect any thing wrong/different so may be he is being safe.
When I was in hospital for the week, I found it difficult to compute what people were saying to me as well as not hearing properly, it was sort of muffled, but thankfully both those complaints have gotten better (I started to think I was losing my mind. No joke)
The whole escapade has made me look around me and appreciate those around me and what I have. Due to the double vision I am not game to use a chainsaw so I have had to buy fire wood (goes against the grain) but hay, it gets dropped into my trailer cut and split and the mate parks it in the front yard near the front door so I can unload it at my leisure. The mate has been doing little things for me which saves the wife from having to run around doing messages.
I won't be sorry to lose the double vision and get back to driving myself aroundJust do it!
Kind regards Rod

Hope the Doc finds out what the problem is, real soon. Bad enough the Black Dog being around, without seeing double.
Get well soon.

Be careful with the double vision in the workshop Rod. You will have the situation of seeing two hammers and two nails - just need to work out which hammer is going to hit which nail!
Hope you get back to normal soon.
