I think I've posted before on my psoriatic arthritis journey. Intitially the specialist thought it RA, couldn't find any meds that worked so changed his diagnosis to PsA, the most aggressive he has seen. The PsA coursed through me affecting fingers, wrists, forearms, elbows, upper arms, shoulders, neck, toes and balls of the feet, life was damned painful, I had very limited use of my hands and any use of them caused much pain. In my struggle I had big toe joint replacement, hip replacement, ulna nerve transposition and lastly, two finger joints replaced, another two replaced.

A curious thing happened after the surgery, my pain in all the body parts affected lessened. My hands are quite good now, I have reasonable use of them without much pain, same with left elbow, shoulder, neck, feet, only my right elbow causes me a lot of grief still.

So after four years of soul destroying pain It appears I'm in remission. The damage caused by this disease in the four year period is more than most suffer in a lifetime with this disease, such was it's destructiveness. My joints will never recover, the damage to great, particularly the elbows. I still have pain, particularly in the left arm, but, it is much less in the rest of my body.

I passed this by my GP, but he seems to think its just that I'm used to the pain. I disagree with that, I became used to the pain a long time ago, the disease also appears to stopped its spread.

I'll always have pain, such is the damage caused to my joints, but, I'm happier than I've been in four years. So good being able to use my hands again in a reasonable facsimile of normal. Now I only have the cancer to deal with.
