Colorbond Roof Paint
The corrugated Colorbond roof on our 22 year old farmhouse is losing its paint. In saying that it is not peeling, just weather worn I guess, and you can see the steel underneath.
Does it need an undercoat before the top coats? I believe I can get a corrugated profile roller, so should I roll or brush the paint on for the best finish?
Would appreciate any advice.

Contact Bluescope or Lysaght or Stramit, talk to their tech people, they are the definitive experts

Wattyl Solarguard Paint will work without an undercoat. The old paint will have a fine coating of weathered paint that will have to be removed. ( If you rub it with your finger you may see a powdery residue). It would be a good idea to use a pressure washer to clean down the roof.

Our roof after less than 20 years is loosing all it colour. We will have to repaint or replace. I don't mind the painting as I can brush/roller/spray but I cannot get good definitive advice in Hobart. Having been to a few paint suppliers I get different information from each one, who are looking to sell their own product. My real question is, Why are we stuck with this Colourbond crap. We had a perfectly good roofing product in Gal. I have recently reused some gal roofing which came from an 85 year old house. We put the battens at the original spacing's and use roof screws instead of nails. The gal roof will probably last another 85 years. But not my roof. LOL. Supposed to be guaranteed for 30 years. Yea Right. Tried that.. Noone home thanks. PAUL.

The boys on this forum were quick with their replies and I am impressed. Had not looked on the internet myself but did so last night and came across these comprehensive instructions from RESENE paints:
HOOKED.UP -- Colorworld Paint Supplies in Launceston are stockists of Resene paints.
Don't know whether the thermal facts about Hi-Glo Cool Colour are true. Perhaps forum members have used it and can tell us if it worked.

Whitey, to be honest it is still on the 'to do' list. However, I have been talking with a friend in the painting industry and I am going to use a Dulux product - AcraTex Roof Primer MX and then AcraTex Roof Membrane over that. He sprays it on but I am going to roll it on with one of those corrugated rollers. Apparently, it is only stocked at Dulux Trade Centres. HE said the primer is very important.

I hope your list isn't as long as mine, we have just had the tiled roof on the house painted $1700 just for the paint and sealer "its worth it for the quality you get" now all the colourbond roofs are looking shabby.
Thanks for replying.
