Hasn't Mackay got a big brewery as you come into town?

MAckay would be more expensive to live apparently, but Rocky has summers from hell although it is a short drive to Yeppoon and the Keppel Islands. The fishing around there can be great and even if you don't catch anything the scenery is spectactular
Have a nice day - Cheers

Cheers
He's from western NSW so the heat should be similar, humidity will kill him but .
I suggested he should try and spend a week or so in each to get a feel.
cheers

Rocky is hot as buggery, son lives there and reckons it is worse than townsville. However if anyone in his family has asthma, Mackay is probably not for them as there is sugarcane everywhere around there. Recomend weeks visits to area at this time of year as suggested above.

Hi Dazzler,
I would pick rocky. I might be a bit biased having been born and lived there for 25years. It does get bloody hot in rocky and also very cold....... A lot to do with mount archer between rocky and the coast(No sea breezes). However I think the humidity is a lot worse in Mackay. I have lived in Mackay for short periods and its humidity is a killer. Also mackay at the moment is extremely expensive when it comes to real estate.....due to mining boom in area.
Rocky/yeppoon had nicer beaches and the keppel islands are fabulous. Fishing is also better in the rocky region as well, Just my opinion of course. Rocky is also quoted as being the Beef capitol of australia as well.

As has already been said. Housing prices in Mackay are skyhigh because of the mines. Personally I wouldnt live in Mackay anyway, the surounding small towns are a better option in my view (if he's prepared to live up to 30 minutes drive from Mackay) Though the prices in these areas are starting to get up there as well.
Walkerston, Marian, Mirani, and Sarina are options

Hi Guys
December and January are humid months in Mackay but the rest of the year is great.
We have a predominant SE breeze for about 280 days a year.
When your freezzin your whotzits off in winter we are in t shirts at 8.30 am.
The house prices have gone down a bit and are not too bad
The average house on average block runs between 350 to 380K and shopping about same as elsewhere and we are pay $1.33 to $1.37 for fuel.

Not much of a choice. Mackay is boring as bat guano, Rocky is like a big country town with a chip on its shoulder.
Mackay is pretty. Rocky is plug ugly. Mackay is close to Proserpine and the Witless Sundays, Rocky is close to cattle country or gem fields.
Mackay would get my vote as it more lush and there is something scary about a place that has fiberglass bulls down the main street.
