Something which may now interest you, what with being in the bush and having to fend for yourself for a lot of things.
Off-Grid Living Festival – NEXT FESTIVAL 15 & 16th April – Eldorado Victoria, Australia
I've attended a couple of them, probably will go to this one as we are now free to travel once again.
The next one is happening in April next year.

There is nothing like the serene peace an quiet of the Australian bush, listening to the bird choir(when your wearing your earring aids).
Not a house in eye sigh.
Watching the endless clouds roll buy,the white fluffy ones, not those bloody dark water carrying ones.
Then the whole scene is gone in a blink of a eye, as you turn the Bloody engine off faster than Flash Gordon.
An watch 10 litres of Green coolant hit the ground,as it pisses out of $4.95 Welsh plug at the rear off Betsy cylinder head.
Might as well re wire her while I’m there(was planning that one at least).
An just like that I’m back in an old profession [emoji3064][emoji3064].
Cheers Matt.

Of cause you know that a real bushy farmer would find a tree branch the right size for the welsh plug, lop a piece off and ram it in and fix the wiring with a bit of 8g fencing wire with gum sap for insulation.....
The person who never made a mistake never made anything
Cheers

Ray
Don't knock No.8 fencing wire. It's indispensible!

Ray I would have used some “Tree” but my Micrometers are still packed away from when we moved in, so I couldn’t measure a bit of tree too find an exact 44,45 mm(Old fart language 1 3/4 inch thingy)piece that would fit perfectly.
Plus I spat the dummy(No not a Welsh plug) an had big Boy city coffee.
I think the wiring loom is well past 8 Gauge fencing wire lol.
Cheers Matt.

Have you considered some small crops? Soybeans, hemp, wheat, etc? Just a 1/4 hectare of each for fun and a touch of self sufficiency.
(edit - micro cropping: Hermidale Public School's seven students set to harvest their first wheat crop - ABC News)
Perhaps a peruse of this book for ideas on trees to plant?

Kind of yes kind off no,
We kind of loosely talked about doing something possibly.
One of my main reasons for buying the property was the ability too make noise.
Not that I’m generally a noisy person, but having the freedom to make noise is nice.
What I mean is, if I suddenly “Needed” to push the thicknesser out side on a Sunday evening at 7 pm an use it, I could an know one’s going too care.
But ye we should stop admiring the views an pull our fingers out.
Cheers Matt.

Update ,we dug a bloody big hole, and found No Gold.
We have flattened out an area behind the palace, for an entertaining area, 16 metres long (length of the veranda) 13 metres deep, with a cut of approximately 600mm at the back line, my apologies to the Older forum members , I’m not translating the metric measurements to old fart measurements it’s 2023.
I’m stuffed [emoji3064][emoji3064][emoji3064][emoji1658].
The earth works were done by friend with a medium size digger, even than it was hard going ,due to the ground being very clay and quarts.
We are now in the process of moving 11.5 Cubic metres of Tuscan Sandstone into an approximate depth of about 50/60 mm.
By hand because we can!!!
Retaining wall is going to be Old Corrugated Iron Sheets.
I can tell you , I have a new found respect for the old timers here (Old gold mining area tho they are still find Gold), I can only drive a star picket in by about 50 mm with just using a sledgehammer, so out came the impact drill a 600 mm orger bit with plenty of water means, I’m then able to drive the pickets into about 500/600 depth.
We also plan on putting an Agie pipe in a trench about 1.5 metres behind the retaining wall at a later date.
It’s not finished , but it already looks fantastic, but , that’s a slightly biased opinion.
Cheers Matt.
Sorry having trouble loading pics tonight.
