An update,
We have been home approximately 13 months now.

We become three,
An I have the makings of an excellent workshop ya,

Ok the longer version,

Approximately 2 months back, Wedderburn engine an historical society were having an open day, so Sal an I went down too help out as I had joined the club a few months prior(I’m currently the youngest member at 52[emoji849]).

So after serving a hundred or so sausages too the public, we took a walk that has, changed our lives for ever.

Ruby the entitled princess decided she would like too have Sally an myself be there for her every need, money no option.[emoji849]
Ruby is 3 month old Kelpie.

Ruby now has become well an truly settled in, demands at least two walks a day, is systematically draining our bank accounts, on more an more treats an toys, an food, an as explained too the local roo society that she now Rules over the 20 acres, an the dumb humans are hers P……. O….. roos.

The workshop, some will remember that we were building a shipping container home in Ballarat on my sister’s land with the intention too move them on too our own land one day, then Covid-19’s an it’s S… show hit the big screen, an we were stuck in lockdowns an spend approximately 2 years before we could get up there from Melbourne, unfortunately during that time, some rats had made it inside an made a mess, of most everything, including a lot furniture an personal effects, plus we had a water leak in one of the roofs,we were gutted too say the least.

So after the tears had tried up, we found Wedderburn, so moving forward I’ve spent the last 12 days organising, packing stuff that wasn’t wrecked by water or F rats, strapping belongings too the floor of the containers, preparing the ground around the containers with the help of mate, so we could move the three containers too Wedderburn,
Truck was booked trees were cut back in readiness to move 26 Ton down the highway,

Truck arrived yesterday, then got bogged [emoji849], the driver had poped in a few days prior too check he was happy with everything, we also went over what was the best approach due to the terrain an being a bush block,
Yep we will go there an not hear yep no worries,so the area we thought was the best an driest, ended up being not so dry,luckily the ground had dried up bit more over night an with the help of a large 4wd was able too get going, on to the down hill section,
So late this afternoon we had our first container arrive, we’re now going too wait for the ground too dry out a bit more before we snatch the other two containers out,
So yes I will soon have a workshop consisting of three 12 metre containers, placed side by side with walls cut out between them were needed or wanted.

I know it is a "shipping" container, but it seems to have a slight list. Or is it the photographic angle?

Was the truck a dedicated 40' unloader? I am guessing it was as you have not mentioned a crane.

You are supposed to be settling in not getting bogged down!

It could have been a lot worse.

Sally looks well following her op and nice-looking Kelpie puppy too.

Paul,

Yes it was a side loader truck, the land were the containers are(Will be) has a slight fall, the container is level it’s just the picture.

Will report in with more pictures when all three containers have arrived.

Are you putting the containers on footings at a later stage yourself Matt? What sort of footings? I just did three 40 footers some time back. With the help of a builder friend and his Bobcat driller and laser level. They worked out well. Footings were done first then the side loader placed the containers on top.

That’s exactly what we wanted too do,unfortunately life got in the way, work jobs took longer bla bla bla.

So yep Rob, that’s what we’re planning on doing, the footings will be just some concrete in a hole with some reo.

Unfortunately we were in a rush just too get the containers out, an I really haven’t had time too plan it out probably yet.

But will get there some how[emoji41].

Maybe I could organise a container lifting party, like the Amish do ????

Merry Xmas everyone
An especially merry great big shopping month too all the fellow atheists.

We are currently in Melbourne for Xmas with family, we were planning on leaving after lunch, to head home, but due too an abundance of water falling from the Sky, we can’t even get close to Wedderburn all roads are flooded, seems familiar 15 months ago it flooded!!!!

So these once in a 100 year events, that the very well paid scientists $$$$$$ from Government Departments tell us about ,seem to be happening every year.

Will see what tomorrow brings, an hopefully we’re home bound.

Let me tell you a "secret".
When the 2016 version of the publication Australian Rainfall and Run-off (ARR 2016, for short) was updated in 2019 (the publication became ARR 2019), whilst the fact that climate changed warmer air can hold more moisture than air not so influenced by climate change was acknowledged, ARR 2019 largely ignored the effect on the basis that the science was still evolving.

If you are lucky, the designers are specifying a flood probability (1 in 100) based on ARR 1998 and the surface permeability conditions then applying -- mid 1990s -- however, if you are not so lucky, the flood model the planners are using will be based on ARR 1958 rainfall maxima.
