Sorry to hear about your mate. Time will be the healer for you.
We had a rescued dog form RSPCA in Sydney. My brother got the for Dad when Mum went into the Nursing Home. When it was Dads time to go to the Nursing Home my siblings decided the dog could come home to me 400Km from Sydney. We live on a rural block and there are goats and sheep and horses about. The dog (we think) was a German Shepherd X Kelpie about 3-4 years old. I was dubious about bring a city dog to the bush. He was extremely keen about throw and fetch and would drive you mad to throw things. Long story short, he turned out to be the best dog!!!!! He ended up getting arthritis. When we put him down in 2000 we think he was 17-18 years old. We still remember him very well because he was so close to our hearts.Just do it!
Kind regards Rod

I don't agree dogs are more important than family - they are family. They become your best mate in a flash and there is nothing harder thing than saying good bye to one.
I have had dogs all my life, each one has been different but always special. Eventually you'll dwell more on all the good times rather than the sad good bye.
All the best.

The best medicine is to get another do as soon as you can. Without a dog to ease the grief, life will feel very lonely.
I often visit my two dogs ashes in the bookcase, I will never forget them.
Dogs are special, they deserve a much longer life than nature has decreed, the esteem in which we hold them tells a story: No other animal serves us as well as the dog, from support dogs to police dogs, to war dogs, to guide dogs, to companion dogs our best friends are irreplaceable.
So sad to let them go, even sadder making that decision. Dennis, our last dog, lost his mind, either dementia or a brain tumour. He's been gone six years now and still I agonise over whether I made the right decision.

Last word for my girl
Hi all, I want to thank everyone for your kind and supportive words on the loss of my best little mate Missy. It’s been a hard fortnight since her passing but your support has been very important to me. I brought her ashes home today and she is now in her new home with me.

anyway, thanks everyone.
cheers
