    Default Cat run WIP

My SIL has a new friend since the passing of my bro. He seems a very decent bloke and it has bought a little work my way. This is the proposal

Over the next several posts I will get you up to date and hopefully I'll be back up in Sydney to fiish it off just before Christmas.

Should look good when it is finished. You could use the large enclosure as a bird aviary to give the cat a bit more entertainment, or maybe not?.

    Have fun building it.

So first was to decide on materials and size. Initially was going to use 30mm bird wife and fix the back diirrectly to the fence. This idea was later shelved. Thought make it modular in case of a shift.

Floor would be 2400 x 1200. Was going to go 15mm cement sheet but at $163 a sheet decision was for marine ply or the like. Next up the floor frame , H3 mgp10. Guess it did not particularly need to be structual but here goes. Rather simple

Footings just pavers dug and placed into rammed earth holes

I'm also concerned about your nice wife's involvement

Ok so moving right along. Next job was the walls. The chook 'wire' was only available in a narrow roll. Had no taple gun with me either so all nailed by hand. What a pain.

Also above you will note some tumnels have been folded up.

Time for a couple more walls and one needs a hole for the cats

    Better view of the entrance

That was the end of the day

Moving on to the last day of activity before my return home.

The last wall needed to be built. This was going to have a flywire door with lock so bracing was inportant as was the opening size

Took forever to strain the front wire and nail it all on but once done errection was quick. So quicki did not wven get a pic before the roof went on. Roof was using materials on hand.

Next job was some shelves for the cats

Thiswas done before the door went on but again pics not talen quick enough

So with the door on all finished with 2 shelves down the length and two across now just a matter of a tunnel to the house.

Needs a sign on it saying "CAT MAHAL".. Nice work Dave, if you're in trouble at least you'll have someplace to sleep, albeit a bit draughty.

I like your play on words.

I had pondered a waybof making modular enclosures

    Well im back at it.

An unexpected text at midnight asking if I'm interested in finishing it off as the other carpenter did not quite have the same attention to detail and it has remained unfinished.

Slight change to cat exit from window. Proposed something like this

Glad to be able to finish it off

Then it had to be joined up to the shed roof

And here is an overall to compare with the first 'as proposed' pic
