Default The $100 hardwood pile ?????????

    Hi All

Yesterday I saw the following hardwood pile get sold for $100 on ebay. It seems to me like a lot of hardwood for this amount and I would be interested in getting the views of more experienced buyers of wood if they think that this is cheap / about right / expensive.

The reason that I ask is that I am a newbie to this sort of thing and I am trying to work out what represents fair value ?

If it is both of those piles and it is genuine hardwood in good nick, then I would say it is a good bargain.
What happened? Wigged out at $45 huh?

Not much detail on the listing though. I hope the winner asked a few questions.

I once bid on an old jarrah stair case for the timber. Won it, only to discover upon pick up that it was stained Merbau . I had asked if it was jarrah before bidding. Luckily he threw in a big pile of 38mm x 150mm Spotted Gum.

Most will need resawing and dressing or at least docking to be usefull. Nails/screws need to be removed. Always the chance you will miss one and bugger your saw/planer. A percentage will be useless from splits and cracks. most applications will need nail holes drilled prior to fixing.

still $100 i thought was fair value.
and its good to see old timber getting another run.

It is difficult to tell the quality of the wood. Looks like recycled wood to me. For $100, I think it is OK. 1 question, how are you going to get them delivered? It could be a killer if you can’t organize your own transport.

Would I get it? Yes, if I can pick them up myself.
