Just need 12mmX100mm Pine board in Perth! Why so hard to find?!?!
Hi guys, this is my first post but I've been lurking on your guys' pages for months. I've been all over Perth, to almost every wood suppliers and salvage yard on my endless quest to find...12mmX100mm pine board, rough sawn, untreated. NOT EXACTLY rare hardwood is it? Yet impossible to find. Just got a callback from Allwood who have informed me the mills won't even special order it for me. And I'm not looking for just a couple boards either, I'm looking for a few packs. You see, it's all started because I had found a pack at the salvage yard, made by Auspine (who I'm pretty sure aren't around anymore), which was perfect for my craft business. I was smashing out a quality looking product for a while and selling on Gummie and was all going sweet when my supply ran out. Since then I can't find my boards anywhere and I have orders piling up for more of my things (I'll spare you guys the shameless product plug). I've been told all kinds of things by the suppliers around town, and they all seem like B.S. answers. I'm getting desperate though guys, would really appreciate it if one of you could suggest a mate or a quality small time miller (hell, I'll even take a poor quality small time miller). And slightly less important, but also needed would be 12mmX140mm board. Cheers fellas.

A really good suggestion, thanks. I have tried a couple so far, but no luck. Also tried pallet makers as well. One of them said he'd do it, but I'd need to order 10 cubic meters, which would be bigger than my house. I'll keep trying those fencing companies though. Might have some luck along the line. Any other suggestions would be great too. Thanks all.

just as a second thought, hume and corinthian doors use 100x12 rough sawn non treated pine as door pallets, they use 3 lengths per pallet,

Am really surprised that you're having trouble sourcing this size, local mill that I do cartage for would sell you some in a heartbeat, but you're on the other end of the continent
Cheers

What lengths are you chasing? Most small millers will only be able to cut green for you but 12mm will take no time to dry Have you a decent bandsaw? Buy rough sawn 25mm and cut it in half?

Sounds like your lead on the door guys was solid. I got a hold of their pallet guys and he's gonna sell me a pack of the 12x100. Still no joy on the 12x140, but at least I'm half way there!! Pretty happy about that. Still very surprised how difficult this whole thing has been, must be a WA thing . But you guys have been awesome. Thanks heaps.

I found that 140x12 Radiata Pine was unavailable the last time I ordered for the school I work at. I bought 140x12 VJ lining board (tongue and grooved) as it would be cut in half for a lot of the projects.

Have you tried Worldwide Timber Traders? Worldwide Timber Traders
I've not been down yet but they list 'dry sawn pine' on the page referenced above and when I asked the receptionist a while back (my enquiry was plywood-related) she said they do have rough pine, untreated.
Will be curious to hear how you go--please post back wherever you land!
