20% moisture camphor slabs storage
I have some camphor laurel slabs which are about 20% moisture. Do they have to be stored flat/horizontally whilst drying or can I lean them against a wall?

All my C/L slabs/blocks are stored flat on pallets.

Hi Qwertyu,
I have my camphor slabs up against a wall with a sticker between them, slabs are approx. 3" thick with no problems.
Regards,
Nev

Ive been reading that slabs should be stored flat with stickers of the same thickness in between them with something really heavy on top of the pile. But I'm just thinking, surely there would be heaps of tension within the timber that it would be difficult to put enough weight on it. Also, when dried and planed/thickness, it will move the way it wants to move.
So would love to know if it really makes all that much difference.
My preference would be to store them vertical just to save space. Its also important to note that the log was cut down and sat for 1 yr before being milled. after being milled it sat in the open weather for a few weeks, without any endgrain sealer.

I'd say at 20% they need to be laid flat stacked and stickered. Vertical on a slope = bent when dry
