Acacia
The Landline TV show on Sunday, mentioned an Acacia (they called it purple wood ) when a dry limb was broken it was purple inside.
The property was on the northern SA--NSW border which has been taken over by the Bush Heritage Aus.
Maybe TTIT (Vern) could help with a true indetification.
regards John

I will second FC there... I have a piece of Purple Acacia in the shed. Supposed to be very protected wood so good luck getting some of it.
It's only a mistake if you don't learn from it.

Saw the same program John. Most likely acacia carneorum like FC said which also means it's not as rare as they made out on the program - only on the 'vulnerable' list. Too far south to be acacia peuce which is the rarest of the purple acacias.
Got enough for an egg FC???????
