Default Advice on some donated timber

I've just been given four hefty pieces of what might be oak recovered from a church property in Glebe shown in the photos below. Can anyone confirm my identification or correct me?

Dimensions are around 35mm x 220mm and around 1900mm in length.

I have a plan developing that would require me to resaw and joint these to form wider pieces for a TV cabinet about 1500mm long. However, that would give me around 17mm or a bit less once cleaned up. This might be a bit thin - comment is welcome.

If it does turn out to be a reasonable plan, is there somewhere that would resaw and joint the boards for me since I lack that kind of equipment. (I'm in Sydney, near Parramatta).

    Thanks in Advance,

    Steve

Looks like "generic Eucalyptus" to me; Vic Ash/Tas Oak or maybe Messmate.

Resawing will leave you at 15mm cleaned up if you're lucky; waaaay too thin for a TV cabinet, you'd be better off joining them up for the top as they are and making the rest of the cabinet out of something else.

Thanks for the reality check! A single thicker top does make more sense and would be a lot easier to achieve. I might try that and see how it looks.

    Agree with Elan and Bob.

Don't think that there is enough colour for messmate; more likely mountain ash or perhaps alpine ash - the theoretical components of "Victorian ash".

So this has turned out to be some very nice Mountain Ash which I've now cleaned up to make the desktop in the photo below. One day I might make a suitable set of legs for it but for now these Ikea legs do the job.

With the remainder I've resawn to give me 11mm thick pieces which will become a small toolbox. Very nice timber.
