    Default Albizia?

    Wondering what this tree is
I'm thinking a Albizia species maybe
    Any suggestions welcome
Around 70cm d.b.h and quite tall
To be felled as is growing too close to house apparently
Growing on pretty poor soil too so must be a reasonable age given its size
    Thanks in advance

The bark & leaves look a bit like Leucaena, but I have no sense of scale from a picture so could be way off the mark. Leucaena is in the legume family & does well on impoverished soil. The bl**dy things are all around my place & threatening to take us over. I cut down the one that was actually on my land, it was a fair-sized tree about the size of the tree in your pic. The heartwood was mid-brown & dense, fairly easy to work & turned well, but it had quite wide sapwood, which borers absolutely love, the only wood I've had that was worse was some Pecan - that stuff must taste like chocolate to borers!

If it is an Albizia, be cautious, they are notorious sensitisers. You'll be unlikely to have any problems on first exposure, but subsequent exposure to its dust can be rather unpleasant....
    Cheers,

I've never seen a standing tree, only the handiwork of a saw miller. Is it from the same area as the Kapok tree?
