Default Aussie alternative to Baltic birch plywood?

I am wanting to make longboard skateboards with my woodwork students but am having problems sourcing 6 mm x 2 sheets of baltic birch plywood glued together. Is there an Australian alternative that has the same flexibility but strength? Please help! Thanks.

    Welcome to the forum!

There was a place mentioned here on the forum a few weeks ago but sadly I can't remember the name of it. You probably only need ply that has one good side as I imagine that you'll be glueing a non-slip thingo on the top side.

You could try the following links(which a simple Google search gave me):
Structural Plywood | Non-Structural Plywood | Sub Floor Plywood | Furniture Plywood

Birch Plywood Australia - Birch Plywood Suppliers Sydney

Actually, I've just remembered that that other mob had jarrah plywood, so Google gave me the answer (not that I'm necessarily suggesting jarrah)

You can try this place at Mt Ku-ring-gai in Sydney. They have birch ply.

Yates at Ingleburn have birch ply in several grades and most thicknesses. You'd have to buy a whole sheet though (2.4 x 1.2m) as they won't cut it for you.

I'm pretty sure they keep 6mm, but it ain't cheap !
