    Default Australia Red Cedar

Does anybody know wher in the near Sydney area I can purchase a small quantity of australian red cedar for some highlight strips in a strip built kayak I am building. the finished size would need to be about 12 x 6 mm I would need about 20 strips 3.6 meters long.

Send a PM to Greg Ward on this forum.

He and Mal, (Boutique Timbers) have supplied me with Cedar on a couple of occasions.

    Regards

    Default Australian Cedar

I have stained some Paulownia with traditional australian cedar and successfully defied people to tell the difference before they feel the weight of the sample. Even the grain looks similar. I have not purchased genuine Aust red cedar but I feel stained paulownia would be both a cheaper and lighter option for your purpose.

    really?

    On Buffalo road?

Double check that it is Australian Red Cedar and not Western Red Cedar?

Either way it'll be ok for your canoe. But they are not the same.
