Thread: What is beech?

Gmelina leichardi (spelling??) - Eastern White Beech - is a light straw to grayish white. I've turned a lot of it and it turns and carves really well. the stuff I worked with was a bit loose grained but definatley worth the effort.

Oh, and is softer than tassie oak.
