    Default Bendigo based timber suppliers

I will be in Bendigo for a few days soon, I've looked a bit in Yellowpages and on the net for gormet timber suppliers, but none have shown up.

Can anyone let me know of any timber yards I could visit for a look see while I'm there?

Also maybe any tool places as well

    Cheers

    Matt

Hi, I live just out of Bendigo and I am not aware of any timber suppliers, gourmet or otherwise. Nearest that I am aware of are around Daylesford and the sawmill in Woodend (now closed I think).

As for tool places, again not much here, other than Bunnings and Home Hradware (Hume & Iser).

There is a tool place in town, but caters mainly for tradies etc.

Whenever I need tools it is off to Melbourne or the internet.

    Hey Fred

    thanks for the reply

Yeah it seemed like there maybe wouldn't be any, except for the building type suppliers like bunnies. Cool, I'm up there for the wool show anyway so there's enough to do already!

I'll probably drop in to bunnies anyway they will probably have a few things that aren't really stocked in melb.

    Cheers

    Hi Matt,

Don't know how you will be travelling up from Melbourne, but if you are driving then I would suggest you come via Daylesford and Castlemaine.
Dayles ford has a great cabinet maker showroom/workshop that 's worth a visit. This guy does some beaut work with Aussie hardwoods. Sorry, can't remember their name and can't find them on the web, but they are in the same road as the railway station, less than 100 mtrs away.

Castlemaine of course has the Restores' Barn, a real treasure trove for all sorts of odds and ends, with a great selection of used tools, especially plnes and chisels.

    Hello Matt.

If you're still interested you could try Guilmartins Hardware
2-10 Holdsworth Rd Just off Eaglehawk Rd. Mostly they do
dressing etc on other's own timber, but they do have some
stock there that you won't find anywhere else in Bgo.

Bendigo Trailers and Hardware opposite IGA in Wood St
Long Gully have some old tools and bits and pieces, lots
of timber and old machinery out the back.

Brennans Timber yard cnr Belle Vue and Woodward Rds
Golden Square, demolition stuff mostly floorboards etc
but they have the Renovators Warehouse there also.

    regards
    col.

Yep went to Brennan's in Belle Vue and Woodwards Rds around 12 months ago and they had a bit - all recycled by the looks of it.

Have to second Restorers Barn in Castlemaine.

Also I remeber some years ago there used to be a sawmill in Heathcote but don't know whether that its still going or sells to general public in small amounts?

Is there also some tool museum at some blokes house in Guildford?

    hi all

    Thanks for all the replies.

I will be driving up in my car, so won't have much room for wood once LOML fills the car up with wool

    Tools OK though.

Brennans and the restorers barn sound pretty interesting.

    Cheers

    Matt
