    Default Big ask!!

Hi guys. I know I haven't been on here much and what I'm requesting is pretty sort after but it's for a good cause. I'm doing a second electric guitar for my sons 1st birthday. I really want to make him something amazing that will be almost as old as he is. So my totally unrealistic request is for a piece of any timber other than red cedar or silky oak with a highly figured front. With flame or fiddleback (I hope that is correct use of terms)The perfect piece would be 500x400x 50 approx. I know I'm dreaming. So slightly more realistic might be 500x225x50 x 2 of book matched. And if neither of those is achievable then 2x 500x225x25 would be sufficient.

I intend to make it a functional piece of art. My wife's red cedar guitar is amazing and sounds surprisingly good. I do have some time and I am prepared to wait to get the perfect piece.

I really appreciate anything that you can help out with. Please be fair and reasonable with prices.

For some amazing Tassie timber look here. Prices are reasonably fair for what you get. I think you get free freight from Tassie. (Though maybe not to Toowoomba)

    Regards,

If you`re not in a hurry then maybe some LACE Sheoak would be a rare and unique piece.

I'm picturing a young bloke on his 21st birthday playing his beautifully figured huon pine guitar that his father built him and being the envy of everyone. Maybe a queen ebony neck? Or is that a bit passé ?

Are there any sheoaks that grow to those dimensions, though?

I could get a meter wide slab out of some of our biggest ones , but most of the them are still alive , so they are safe
