Cheers Nifty, would like to think that, after all these years of milling, have developed a sense of what's good and what's not!

About 10 slabs came off the butt, all full of Birds-eye.It was growing in a paddock just outside Malanda on the Atherton Tableland, perhaps the best provinance for growing Qld Maple.Quality isn't expensive,it's priceless

"Birds-eye" occurs in Qld Maple particularly in trees that have been exposed to the elements,as it is caused by insect attack. Many paddock trees reveal it,however, some more than others. This specimen was full of it,showing heavy dimpling on the outside of the bole.
