Default A bit of a find

    Hello All

I went out to the backblocks to buy a bandsaw, dusty and power feeder from from a gent who was closing his business. Got a good deal too.

When asked if I would be interested in some timber as well, he took me around to the back of the shed.
Well I'll be bugg**d, here is this stack of logs approx 8 mtrs x 4 mtrs x 4 mtrs.
Some logs quatered and some whole.
Some short and some medium length.
They remain where they were when he bought the property15 years ago, in a large lean-to.
Apparently the old guy who lived there prior had worked in a sawmill in Dorrigo all his life and had been stockpiling the logs.
He said the timber was rumoured to have been cut 80 to 100 years ago, backed up by some friends of the old guy.

OK shut up and get to the good bits I hear you say.

Cedar and scented Australian Rosewood Tons of it.

Needless to say it's now mine. Woo Hoo This might make up for the big rosewood log that I arrrr..........burnt.
A few of the pieces look like old fence posts, definately been in the ground.

Sorry, no pics yet, I'll get some up in the next few days.

Hum sounds familiar except the part of how long the fellow has been living there.

Your a lucky man either way.

    Well I'll be. Same timber.
There are no slabs left, just all the uncut stuff in the lean-to.
Here's me thinking it was a good find, but you blokes beat me to it years ago.
Still, there is more timber there than I'll ever use in my lifetime.
There is also some palownia that has been added to the stack now.

Very exciting for this newby anyway.

    Cheers

You are welcome to call in anytime.
Don't think you need any pics, I looked thru your thread from years ago.
The picture of the lean-to is exactly the same, log for log.
What happened. It seems strange for there to be anything left after the forumites have been thru.

Well I'd say that time, cash, space here and distance were and still are a problem. I still have some yet to use most of my share that Pat & Fletty shared in.

No worries about photos then will drool over the old ones.
