Blackwood source?
Hi!
I'm a professional cabinet maker and also a guitar maker from Sweden, and I'm trying to find a place to get Tazmanian Blackwood (Acacia Melanoxylon).
Does anyone of you know any good sources?

Here is another possibility; they advertise that delivery is arranged anywhere, but I am not sure if that includes Sweden.

Thanks, Rocker!
The link didn't work, but I went to the tastimber web site and found a couple of suppliers. They seem to export worldwide, but it also seems like you have to buy an entire ship load of timber. A bit out of range for me, but it's worth a try.

Hi
How much timber do you want?
I have some Tassie Blackwood, but not a lot.
If you let me know I will see what I have.
Cheers, Al

Hi
You could also try ebay. I have not looked lately but have seen back and side sets up for auction a few times. Good luck.

Thank you for being so helpful, guys! I really appreciate that!
Well, I need a few boards that are 50mm thick, at least 210mm wide and 900mm and 1200mm long. I would like 2-4 boars of each length. They have to be quarter sawn, matching colour, as dark as possible and practically flawless, i.e. no knots, cracks, worm holes etc.
I will use them for my Hawaiian guitars and that's why I'm being extremely picky about the quality.
Thanks,
Fredrik

PK,
you might find the aussie timber merchants a bit more receptive to exporting to Sweden if you actually give them a call (allowing for time difference of course) and explain to them what you're making and what you're requiremetns are. If I was one of them I'd be claiming on my brochure that I'm an internationally renowned suplpier of tassie hardwoods, with clients in Sewden making hawaiian guitars!"Cheers,
Adam

The best supplier of Blackwood is Corsair Timbers
Dennis Brown
Myrtleford Rd
Yackandandah Vic.
Ph (02) 60271860
Dennis exports to England and is the major supplier to the Aust. furniture market. I know that recently he purchased 800 Cubic metres of logs from the Otways to mill.
Good Luck.

Tassie Blackwood readily available
Hi there,
We can make high quality Tassie Blackwood panels, if you were to arrange international shipment we could supply you some excellent panels for your works. Obviously quantity would be preferrable to avoid the shipment being too high in cost for you. We have competitive prices and can turn the material around very quickly(5-7 working days)...
Hope we can be of service to you.
