black stump
the blackwood stump i am working on is about 1.4m in diam,my experiance is to chain saw into square blocks and yes end seal and then into a box with saw dust.this method was recomended to me by several pro-box makers.the fiddle back in this stump is exceptional, like you ,i try to salvage what i can from wind rows and fire heaps.

JIm, not sure really but i figure as the stump is the oldest or densest part of the tree it could be pretty stable but as u probably know, any wood may crack or contract taken out of its enviroment or after water exposure.
Wouldnt mind a few nice turning blanks or small boards if u get em.
Looks like u r really getting out there and around the place, good stuff mate.
