Blakely's Red Gum
What is Blakel'ys red gum best suited to, is it the same as forest red gum, river red gum or any other red gum. Is it featured in Australian standards timber species and properties? I have 10 of them blown over!

Eucalyptus blakelyi - Fence posts and firewood. Grain interlocked, durable, red wood. No idea on furniture but at very least would make good outdoor stuff maybe.
CheersIf you never made a mistake, you never made anything!

Nice red gum but has numerous gum veins and gum sections.
Can split easily on a gum line.
Needs careful drying.
Turns well if you like some gum features.
In big sections can get some nice gum free slices.
Can have nice features.
I have about 6m3 in the yard waiting to be turned.

Ian I suggest you ask Dennis Brown at Corsair Sustainable Timber. He may be interested in milling it. If you cant track him down in the phone book ask Neil the captain(?) of the Yack fire brigade.
